@somebunny26193 жыл бұрын
This scene really touched me. You can feel Spike's desperation to find the woman he loves, and how he copes with coming up empty once more. Gren was such an interesting character. I felt for him too. How he dealt with Vicious's betrayal and the changes to his body were very human. The words he spoke about Julia and her feelings for Spike were beautiful. She talked about him to Gren so much, that Gren was able to recognize him. Just that one bit of information speaks of what they meant to each other. It's so sad that they loved each other so deeply and yet could not be together. Then Spike carrying out Gren's wishes at the end was so compassionate. Spike was a good person at heart, but he couldn't see it.

Space Lion is the perfect name for this song. Gren had been given nothing but hardship throughout his life. He was utterly emasculated by war, mentally, physically and spiritually(a true horror for any modern male), yet he lived on till he could be given a true warrior’s send off by a brother in arms. The somber gift of that last moment of restoring honor and camaraderie is at the heart of neo-noir and what made this episode truly captivating.

Just the little details like when Spike's foot slips in the snow when he jumps out of the swordfish. The series is sublime!
Vicious just used people. His commradery was simply a tool to manipulate Glenn and even spike to an extent. He was a psychopath.

Easily one of my favorite scenes across any work of fiction, from the writing to the music. It's scenes like this that explain why Cowboy Bebop is one of the all time greats when it comes to anime. Goosebumps every time.
I can't believe the many times I came across Cowboy Bebop I didn't even consider watching it until recently. I thought the show would be some kind of comedic western. I like anime that gets dark, deep thinking, and hit serious subjects. Boy was I wrong about this show and I'm glad I experienced. Cowboy Bebop is timeless for a show that aired in the late 90s. It ages very very well. If this show was to air this year, the story line would still be considered fresh and original compared to others. How many times you watch a show or movie and you can guess what happens next because of the predictability of the writing. Cowboy Bebop is a gem and I can see why this show was one of the first few big animes to be successful in the west. From the stunning visuals, chill soundtrack, great English voice work (I realized Steve Blum the voice of T.O.M, voiced Spike), to the little sayings after each episode. This will go down as one of my favorite animes, and I'm not even a huge anime guy. See you space cowboy.

When I watched this scene for the first time, and every time after that I can't help but break into tears. Reason behind that is back in my university days there was a guy I just really did not get along with. We fought all the time, both with our fists and our mouths. But the same day we finally reconciled, and made peace with one another he told me he was being sent off into the army. Surely enough, he never made it back alive. It hurts to remember, it really truly does..

It’s been a little over a year now since I finished Cowboy Bebop which was actually the first anime I ever watched completely. Never planned on getting into anime, but this series stood out to me as something I needed to watch. Not long after my friend recommends MHA, and from that point on I became obsessed with anime. Haven’t watched much Cowboy Bebop stuff for awhile now after having watched 67 animes now. Decided to come back to many different scenes in this show when making a top anime moments list, and there’s just so many in this tightly knit package of a perfect show. Cowboy Bebop has always been my #1 anime, but having watched so many other good ones without watching this show for so long I started questioning whether it was still the best. Coming back to scenes like this made me remember why I always said it’s not only the best anime, but one of the best shows in general. It stands above the others as it’s own genre, and is a show I feel everyone needs to experience at least once in their lives.

"After we found the flame, I was sitting near the campfire wondering about the stars. Slowly a thought came: The stars are flame, I thought. Then I had another thought: The stars are campfires that other hunterfolk light at night. The stars give a smaller light than campfires. So the stars must be campfires very far away. “But,” they ask me, “how can there be campfires in the sky? Why do the campfires and the hunter people around those flames not fall down at our feet? Why don’t strange tribes drop from the sky?” " -Cosmos - Carl Sagan (1980) Chapter 7. THE BACKBONE OF NIGHT
