Michael Timmons is the most powerful man with lyrics alongside Bob Dylan. The poetry in his lyrics is magical. Love the entire band, and Margo is pure delight to my ears.she has such a voice it just leaves you amazed.

On all their albums this band still thank the fans for their loyalty. In the last year I have bought 10 albums of theirs and they still have not disappointed. My prize possession is a picture of Margo and me after a concert they played in Manchester, England. I asked her if it were true she used to sing with her back to the audience due to shyness.... she said it was true. They are truly special.

Congrats to one of my all-time favorite bands! I only had the good fortunate of seeing them live once (in Washington, DC around 1994 for Pale Sun tour--Margo was so kind as to autograph my ticket stub after the show before the band boarded the bus). I agree with the comment that this band has a number of outstanding albums. Just was listening to "Darkling Days" from _Miles From Our Home_ this morning! "The beautiful is not chosen / the chosen becomes beautiful" Thanks for all of the wonderful music!

What, no comments yet? I guess I'll be the first to say something. Congratulations to Cowboy Junkies on the induction, and I'll be seeing them (finally) on Nov. 20th here in Chicago at the Old Town School of Folk Music! I've been a fan since discovering them back in '96 when I bought their CD Lay it Down, can't wait.

They play at the Des Moines Civic Center sometimes. My brother met them and got his picture taken with Margo. They remarked that Des Moines seems to be the sort of town where they roll up the sidewalks after sundown, and they love playing at the Civic Center, because of the acoustics of the hall are some of the best they ever played in.

I couldn't agree more, Joseph. The group evolved and matured and all their music has been a treat to listen to. I have 5 of their albums and saw them twice. Some of my favorites include "Angel Mine", "Murder in the Trailer Park", "Stars of our Stars", "Speaking Confidentiality", and many others.

I too am a loyal and faithful longtime fan of Cowboy Junkies but have seen them live only once. But that one time was so memorable, I never want to forget that night. Met and conversed with Margo after the show and was simply stunned by how down-to-earth and kind she is on top of being incredibly beautiful. Truly beautiful inside as well as out, I'm sure her husband knows how lucky he is. Pale Sun Crescent Moon is probably the closest I have ever heard to a perfect album from any musical group. Black Eyed Man ranks up there as well as nearly perfect in my humble opinion. Even when they switched to Geffen, Lay it Down was almost good enough to be called perfect. They've had a few duds since then but that doesn't take anything away from their greatness in my opinion

When you're exquisite in your talent, in your music, in your musicianship, then your loyal following is going to be exquisite as well, and on the smaller side . Unfortunately that may not manifest in financial windfall, but you get to play and you're not having to work as Uber drivers when not touring. SUCCESS!!

I get sick of hearing about the Trinity Sessions. It's a great album, but they released even better albums later, and sometimes it seems as if that's the only CJ record anyone ever talks about. Pale Sun was better, Black Eyed Man was better, Lay it Down was better, Miles from Our Home was better, Open was better. This is a band that evolved and deepened over time, and did far better things than a solid cover of a Lou Reed song.

What about Lou Reed? Been ridin' on his coattails....
@imvandenh4 жыл бұрын
Good God , what an utterly foolish and downright ridiculous notion! Lou Reed? What about him? What does Lou Reed have to do with Cowboy Junkies other than that they covered one of his songs and he made more money from their royalty payments on that song than he ever did on his own? Covering one of his songs, hit or not, doesn't remotely qualify as a riding on his coattails. Yeah, they covered one of his songs, a version for which Lou himself didn't spare the praise when asked about it. And I'm sure Lou was more than pleased to cash all those royalty checks he was entitled to because their version of his song sold so well. Cowboy Junkies have written and recorded hundreds of their own songs and covered songs from other artists as well but you're hung up on Lou Reed? You might as well say they've been riding on Robert Johnson's coattails or Neil Young's coattails or even the Beatles coattails. Cowboy Junkies took their own path. they didn't ride on anyone's fucking coattails. Their hard work and dedication to their craft is all their own doing. Perhaps they might not have become as well known or popular had they not recorded that one Lou Reed song. that is possibly true but they built their fan base and popularity based on their own songs. Not fucking Lou Reed and his songs! Can't say he didn't benefit from them recording his song, unless you're a liar as well as a douchebag, and I don't just mean financially. Lou's ego got quite the stroke from Cowboy Junkies praising his songwriting in every interview that inquired about that song. people who have never otherwise paid any mind to Lou Reed or his music gave it a look thanks to them.

I personally don't like how Lou Reed sings. I do love the musicians in his band and some of his writings. But in my opinion he is a terrible singer.
