When you say your going to get your catch handled , do you mean dispatching them? What is this live market you mention sometimes ?
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yes. They get a bullet. The live market is the fox pens. They buy coyotes and fox to field trial dogs with.

At seventy one i'm getting back into trapping Got twenty number three with earth anchors Added some springs Question is, how long should I make the chain? ?
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors Жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of soil you’re trapping. All my chains are about 14-16” long, but for sandy or muddy soils I will drive 8-10” of chain in the ground. Hard packed stuff like clay I’ll go only about 5-8” deep.
@RickForsty Жыл бұрын
Do you run 450's exclusively on coyotes?
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Not exclusively, just because I have a lot of traps that I’ve had for years that I’m not willing to part with. I have a lot of Bridger 1.75’s and a couple dozen MB550’s that I still use, but only after I have run out of 450’s.

What is your favorite bait and lure for cats? Thanks and great video 👍
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
All my baits are homemade. I use 100% rat/mouse and keep it fresh. Favorite cat lure is CatManDo…I think it’s made by Milligans. I also make a bobcat gland based lures as well that does good.

Getting into some trapping. How do you bury your anchors for them coyote sets? Don’t want him to pull it out the ground.
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Earth anchors/super stakes. Need a driver for them but they attach to the trap chain and you drive them in the ground and they set firm. Gotta pull em with a truck to get them out. Haha
@jebbrown88062 жыл бұрын
I got some of them and the driver today. I was just curious on how deep you drive them in 8 - 10 inches or so? I thought maybe taking that auger bit and drilling down beside it deep to pull it out when I’m ready to move it lol.

Why do you trap the Bobcats? They don’t bother anyone or anything. And they keep the rodents down!
@CoastalCarolinaOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
They’re a main predator of quail, turkey, rabbits, and even the occasional deer fawn. Everywhere I trap are managed properties for game hunting. On average I only catch roughly 20-25 per year over 50k-60k acres. I don’t even put a small dent in the population.
