Cozy Fall Baking: Soft Molasses Cookies ~ Relax With Me While I Try A New Recipe

SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES
2 c ap flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1 c sugar
3/4 c oil
1/4 c molasses
Mix per video instructions
Chill dough for 2 hours
Preheat oven to 375°
Scoop dough into balls, roll in sugar, place on cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

I'm sitting in my car waiting for hubby and I saw molasses cookies. I jumped right on. I have so many molasses and gingersnap cookies. I like your new style. I can't wait until all the goodies start coming. I'm in California. It's supposed to be 81 but feels just like fall. A brisk chilly wind. i dont really cook or bake cause i live alone.. and dont have anyone to cook for... anyways... i chked with m y older sister.. since she does have some of moms reciepes and does cook alot.... these remind me of moms swedish cookies... they have a gingery /molasses taste to them and are awesome dipped in any liquid coffee/milk hot chocolate etc,,, mom always had cookies at the ready when i got home from school. they sure do look alot like hers.....

I love soft molasses cookies. My recipe makes them a bit puffy and is oh so good. Your other molasses recipe is similar to mine. I like them soft not crunchy but yes these did look perfect. I’ll have to try this one to see which I like better. Edit. I had to come back after PB did the taste test. They are really soft. Funny I heard a crunch when you took a bite. Leslie, I have that candle you were burning from Hobby Lobby and just love it. The cookies did turn out just perfect. A friend of ours raises sugar cane and makes molasses. He always gives us some every year. I will be making these cookies and sharing them with his family. I agree Russian tea would be really good with those cookies. They both would make a great gift. I made the cookies...first try a fail, my dough was much dryer than ursvso the cookies were cakey...I dumped and remade less flour to get consistency of urs and they were good!

I just made a very similar recipe, mine calls for shortening instead of oil, I bake half the batch soft (for husband) and the other half crispy for me, no need to chill this dough. They are so good. Another favorite around here is the big soft molasses cookies like grandma would make, that one calls for lard, they are both big hits around here.

Thanks for the recipe. I will make these. They remind me of Molasses Crinkles, due to the sugar crunch on them. Also I used to clean for an elderly lady, and one day in our talking, she learned that I love to bake. She gave me a recipe for soft Molasses cookies, and told me the recipe was over eighty years old. Today it is over 122 years old. It calls for butter instead of oil. I need to dig it out and make some. But I will make yours first.🤗
