I like the idea of the new headboard but it definitely needed batting to reduce the bumps and make it look more plush and smooth. It is very doable to redo that part by just putting it under the fabric again.

My two cents to Tina is that very often I find the scale of the wall art is way, way too small. I feel like you make all these beautiful pieces but they are totally lost on the wall because they aren’t big enough. The painting above the bed, the garage peg boards, the art above the bed in Chicago; it all should literally be doubled in size! I think it would make things look way more luxe and less DIY. You are the queen of creativity Tina! ❤

I'm glad to see that you are honest about how some of your projects just don't work for you guys after living with them for a while. I love to sew, but there are times that I make something that just doesn't live up to my vision of what it would look like. The new headboard is so sophisticated and really looks perfect in your room!! I actually think a minimal landscape piece of art in brown and green tones would look gorgeous over the bed. It would continue the more sophisticated style and add a calming feel to the space! (I looked at some on the Target and Wayfair websites!)

Tips for running (I did a half marathon...my husband has done a few marathons): Start with walking then add jogging and running when you feel like it. As you add more time and distance, it's OK to still go back to walking some during your runs. I liked the book "What I Talk about when I Talk about Running" and "I Hate Running." I was surprised there were even running books that I enjoyed and could relate to since I don't consider myself much of a runner. And I pretty much only run outside and in my ideal weather. 🤣 You can totally do it! 🙌 Good luck! Also, I started out running by time (10 min, 15, 20, etc) because that didn't intimidate me as much as running 3-7 miles. It helped me to not give up.

I haven't seen how you solved your tangle of cords problem yet but there are plenty of good options out there. Some people choose to drill through the back of the drawer to put everything inside the drawer, though you have to be careful in opening the drawer too far as the cords might not reach. Instead, you could make use of the BACK of your bedside tables. I have a small dresser beside the bed. I find this better to add loads more items to each drawer plus I can use the hidden space BEHIND the dresser between the skirting board and the wall. All I did was to add a couple of small nails to the back of the dresser, placing them high enough to be close to the top of the dresser but not so high that you can see them from the front. On these nails I have hung two powerboards. (Most powerboards have loops on them so you can hang them.) I use powerboards that have both standard plugs and USB plugs. I hung these vertically. Having things plugged in up high allows me to directly have the items I want plugged in on the top of the dresser. With room at the back of the dresser, the excess cord can hang down behind and out of sight from the front. PS I don't know what you call them in your area but 'powerboards' are those longer electrical boards that allow you to plug in several products at once, all linking back to the one wall-outlet. PSS You could always add a backing to your bedside tables as an alternative. You could use some leftover fabric or just paint to put an interesting design on your backboards if theyr'e going to be seen from the front.
@sandieedward9934 күн бұрын
I would add same material to the platform frame of your bed, giving it an even more luxe look Artwork, coordinated frames only larger with bigger mats, but note I always love your wall murals snd they cannot fall on your head...❤😂

For someone who doesn't like to dust, you seem to choose a lot of pieces and fabrics that attract it! I would have opted with fabrics that are much smoother. It's obvious that you're attracted to that 'velvet' like finish because of the way it feels. There's an easy solution to dusting these though- whether they are used on a headboard, on cushions (like you have here) or on lampshades: VACUUM. If, like me, you only have a stick vac, take the head part off; attach whatever nozzle part you want; then vacuum over these surfaces once per week. It will save you a ton of frustration.

Buy some latex gloves (if you're not allergic) from a store. Put one on your hand and rub the dusty area. It may help. It works great for picking up dog and cat hair in clumps from upholstered furniture and clothing. I never tried it on other surfaces like wood, leather or vinyl.

Good call on the headboard. I was always skeptical of you guys actually ever using the little cubbies on the sides of the old headboard - one of those "sounds good on paper" ideas that don't actually work in the real world. Sometimes you just have to pivot and not just hold on to something because you made it or have had it for a long time. One of your superpowers, Tina, is that ability to re-evaluate and try something new.

So, first, let me say I usually love the things that you make. But the headboard needs tweaking. I like the shape and the color, but because it is so lumpy it is screaming DIY project. I get that it's a pain, but it really needs to be re-worked. And, Amazon sells all types of decorative boxes where you can hide your cords. It is not perfect, but it does make it look a little neater.

Only tips that I have for a marathon is don’t do what I did. I thought cuz I was running 6 miles a day, that I could train for a half marathon in 2 weeks. That’s not the vibe! 😅 I did it but dislocated my hip later that week when I returned to dancing. 😬 Start small and build month by month. The marathon tracker apps are very helpful.
