I really love the first shot along 9th ave with downtown in the background. It's crazy to see how much has changed in such little time. Great video

Amazing shots of the 2816, I am also hoping for her grand return to the rails and under a full head of steam. I had a chance to see in 2004, but due to a busy life, I missed that chance. If she returns to steam and she's in Calgary, I'll make the journey out there to see her running once again.

Great shots! Question, any particular reason 2816 doesn't have a pull valve for the whistle? Seems to me that the engineer is just pressing a button.

Canadian Pacific 4-6-4's were fitted with two whistle valves: One pull handle and one solenoid valve. The whistle heard in this video was from a 5 chime whistle attached to the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve activates by a push-button mechanism. That's why it sounds that way.

What type of whistle is that? at 5:31 It sounds a lot like the whistles of the QJ Chinese steam locomotive whistles 2-10-2.

Not sure, but it’s air actuated. 2816 also has a traditional pull cord whistle.

Why did 2816 have 2 whistles like that means 2816 had a back whistle but then when years past on why did 2816 have another whistle that’s up front

Whatever happened to CP 2816? I heard she cracked an axle. Is this true, or is she doing runs for the movie? -IG

***** Yay! I am excited to see her operating again!

***** Probably. I have some connections in the CP and the RCP fields, so they could have a cross-country train ending in Ottawa on July 1st.
