Great devices, easy to use and does not get in the way whilst sleeping. Helped me when my CPAP device was showing less than 1.0 on apnoea events, however I was suffering from memory loss, short temperedness, and extremely low energy. The CPAP device was on automatic and chugging away happily on around 6psi. With the help of the help of some of your other videos and some internet research I figured the pressure may be the issue. I purchased the O2 ring and could then see that I was between 79% and 88% O2 consistently (below 93% being bad) I have increased to 9.5psi and I am now scoring 98%-100% O2 with Apnoea events still below 1.0, with this I was starting to feel much better after a couple of days. IMHO, a reliable O2 monitor is worth having to compliment CPAP devices that don't monitor O2 levels.

Thanks Nick for turning me onto this ring. I got one and was horrified at my overnight saturation data. I'm relatively new to CPAP and it made me realize my machine wasn't helping me properly. Combined with your other clinical setting discussions I was able to adjust the Airsense 10 to move me from 80-92% sats overnight to now being at 90-98% all night. What a difference in how I feel in the morning and I no longer fall asleep in the middle of the day. Thank you for working so hard at being helpful. It works.

@@kendemelis5367 Hi there. I made some changes to the Airsence clinical menu. I turned off the ramp function. I narrowed the pressure range from the generic 4-20 to a more appropriate for me range ( 6.5-14.5). This I determined based on my usage history. I also switched to a nasal mask as the full face mask I was given leaked a lot. I also learned to tape my mouth since it was falling open during sleep. That kept waking me up like the full face mask did. My sats are running 93-96 average. The mask I settled on is the P-10 nasal pillow mask. I am on the list to get the Bleep Eclipse around the middle of this month when shipping resumes. No more head strap!!!. Hope all this helps you. All the best.

I am a medically retied doctor due to illness. After watching this I ordered one. The coupon code didn't work (prob old now). Never mind. Got the ring in 2 days flat via post. it works really well. I'm on cpap plus 24/7 oxygen which I connect to cpap over night. I've always wondered if my O2 sats dropped during the night. I've been considering another over night sleep study but now I don't have to. My reading from the ring were pretty good. I will wear for a few weeks to see if I'm ok. Then I will test it; 1.without oxygen and 2. without cpap or oxygen. (I've always experimented on myself - don't we all lol) I will take my readings to my GP/Specialists (to show off the new tech). GPs could use these in practice for their patients. Thanks for putting me onto this Nick, cheers.

9:08 One thing that can happen with these O2 rings is that if you move, it can register a sharp drop in your blood oxygen due to motion artifact. (In other words, your blood oxygen isn't actually dropping, the measurement was just messed up from moving around.) If I see a sharp isolated drop like that (the first one that goes below 90%), I'll zoom in to see whether movement preceded the reported O2 drop. If it did, and it's an isolated drop like that, it can probably be ignored.

@@CPAPReviews What is a positional device?
@jorisbonson3863 жыл бұрын
I've owned two different variants of these Viatom devices (same manufacturer) and can confirm when tested overnight alongside hospital grade equipment they are pretty accurate. It was the use of these devices and the exact app used in this video (ViHealth) back in December which made me realise I had Sleep Apnoea after 20 years of daily suffering. Since then I've used one of these alongside a Masimo Radical 7 (i.e. about the most accurate pulseOx available) with adhesive sensor across a week of sleep and the results were consistent between the two devices.

@@CPAPReviews No worries :) Thanks for all your great reviews Nick! Out of interest do you ever advise any of your CPAP users of the advantages of wearing a cervical neck brace to prevent positional apnea? The graphs on apenaboards show an AHI reduction typically 90% or more - I have complex apnea and tried one a couple of nights ago; my flow rates improved markedly and sp02 levels were the best they've been since I started treatment (I use DreamStation ASV). I'd advise anyone to try this while awaiting proper sleep/titration study which are currently very long waits for some in light of the pandemic. If they have one of these rings they can see if it improves even before starting pap therapy.

Hey Nick, I just saw this review of the o2ring which I've been using for several months myself. Just wanted to mention to you that your report indicated what looks like a run of atrial tachycardia. In addition, the big changes I see your heart rate during the night may indicate that you could have AFib. Lh

Thanks for the info Nick. I have been using a wrist O2 sat monitor (likely the same manufacturer as the ring) that also uses the Viatom software. Results have been very valuable. Some nights my O2 drops significantly, and some nights are ok. I started using it all day just to see what happens, and I have significant drops during the day as well. Most drops occur after lunch throughout the afternoon. I am on 2l O2 at night, but I am beginning to think I need O2 during the afternoon as well. Note there is considerable variability from day to day. If my MD ordered am 24 hr monitor, it easily may not detect the issue. I do think the data is reasonably accurate. I do plan to share the data with my MD.

Thanks for your review and discussion of the Wellue O2 Ring. First night score was 8.8, and I suspect the vibrate feature was keeping me from going lower than 88%. I am going to bump the threshold to 90 or 91% now. The silicone band is going to be a problem for the fingers so I may have to switch finger usage so that I don't get a rash at the same point (I had to change my fitbit band to metal for the same reason). I'm still trying to work out if I feel any more refreshed, but it's nice to have an idea of the sleep apnea seriousness and monitor. I've also started doing tongue exercises in an attempt to lessen whatever sleep apnea I have. Unfortunately I have shoulder impingement which means sleeping on my shoulder exacerbates that, and sleeping on my back likely worsens the apnea. (lol). Also working on lowering the bodyfat %. A study I read indicated that bodyfat %, waist circumference is reasonably correlated with sleep apnea, and lean body mass is strongly negatively correlated. (My guess is that the visceral fat is the main driver - people more prone to put on fat viscerally are going to have worse apnea.) So basically, get fit and work to lower the bodyfat percentage to a healthy range. There are many other benefits to doing so also, obviously.

Update after using this for a couple months... I think this device is training me to breathe more regularly during sleep. I don't think I have obstructive sleep apnea, instead it is likely central sleep apnea (brain doesn't send enough signals). O2 score used to be in 8.0-9 5 or so now 9.5-9.9 usually. For some reason when I was younger, I thought it would be cool to try and train myself to not need to breathe as much at times, e.g. to dive deep, I wonder if that's permanently caused some sort of malfunction with the way I breathe. Or maybe there is another cause. I think it's compounded with mild anaemia. The other thing I highly recommend is taking this with you when you fly next. I was going deep into the 80s regularly, only stopping when the buzzer hit, and it was doing this frequently. Scary... normally I sleep on planes and get quite sleepy. Now I know why. I fixed this by concentrating on breathing deeply and regularly. This makes me wonder if I've been getting some sort of brain damage over my past couple decades from flights and sleep apnea/hypoxia at night. :( Oh well, at least I am learning what to do from this point on.
@executivelifehacks67472 жыл бұрын
Note also... there needs to be a way to keep the ring on overnight. At first my brain learned to breathe more. Then my brain learned to remove the darn device! I wake up, and it's somewhere on my bed, it feels like the One Ring, it almost has a mind of its own... Anyway, I need a way to secure it on the finger that requires a conscious effort to remove. Anyone have this same problem?

I found this by myself after my doctor thought I had sleep apena. In literally a weekend of some of the worst sleep ever I was able to find ways to help me sleep better with this little device and doing some tests (hence the difficult sleep). What was most interesting was how doing some small changes to my sleep made a big difference in my graphs with this product. Sleeping on my side and having a focus of making sure my nose is clear at night has resulted in my numbers going from 5.0-6.0 to 7.8-9.6 on the score and I can feel the difference between a good and bad night. Of course I am here researching CPAP machines because I do have a problem (and having a cold would be a disaster) but this device has been huge in helping my issue.

Great review and demonstration. I've had my eye on this product for several months due to unsatisfactory treatment with an APAP. The Oscar downloads are showing many CAs with periodic breathing and even some CSR at times. There also appears to be quite a bit of flow limitation and odd flow rate. I'm trying to get this addressed with my doctor but I don't feel the PSGs in the Sleep Lab show a true picture of a patient's SDB. This product seems like it would help me figure out better what is going on in my home sleep environment. I really hope they can move to do most sleep studies at a patient's home. That's where the real testing is done, hehe. Thanks for the video. You've definitely sold me on this product.

@ easy peasy however I already know my settings so I didn’t need to go in. However for someone who has never been tested, I wouldn’t trust a ring. I just needed it done for my insurance company to pay. But that’s was the only reason. There is nothing better than electrodes being connected to your white body, a mic being taped to pick up snoring, pulse meter taped to your finer. Yep it’s uncomfortable, but nothing can beat that. So again I only recommend this for people who already have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, already know their pressures. Just need to get the insurance company to approve.

One think you didn't mention Nick is the fact you can pinch both the O2 level and pulse rate in or out to really drill down onto your numbers. All you do is tap on the little microscope thingy in the bottom corner of the screen and then use your fingers to pinch in or out the charts.

@CPAPReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, good question. I would say no to this. The filter are designed to enable adequate airflow so the motor doesn't overheat and also enough density to stop dust getting into the unit. If you use a filter that is too dense then your motor will have to work a lot harder to get air in and will burn out quicker. You can pick up really cheap, after market filters these days and it should only cost around $10 a year which is very reasonable. Cheers mate. Nick

You make apnea life so much easier to navigate.

I have been wanting to see if my CPAP is working well or my tiredness is due to my sometimes weird sleep schedule. This will hopefully help me figure it out. Really considered the new Apple Watch, that monitors O2sats but wasn’t sure if it be accurate, much like the Garmin, which would not always work and sometimes would only monitor part of my sleep. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works well and I just need to keep a better sleep schedule. Thanks!

Hey Michael, it's awesome! I'm addicted and fascinated by it. I wore it again last night and I'm trying to figure out why 2 x during the night my heart rate goes through the roof to above 150 bpm. The ring vibrated twice last night and I when I woke I could vividly remember the dream I was just having so I have strong inclination that my heart rate is going so high due to me entering remsleep when I'm doing my dreaming but it's still fascinating to see! My brother is going to borrow it for a few nights for his wife as he thinks she has sleep apnea and I imagine it's going to be passed around to a few more of my friends and family after that haha. You will really enjoy it! It's a fantastic product. All the best mate, Cheers. Nick

False readings GALORE! I bought this ring and I can easily make the O2 reading drop 5-10% at will. When I first bought it I was aghast at my overnight blood oximetry..but then I realized by accident that I could run my arm up under my pillow and slightly cut off the circulation to the arm with the ring on it and it would calculate a much lower blood oximetry. About the only place to properly take blood oximetry while sleeping is either the earlobe (which will interfere with sleeping via it rubbing on your pillow) or possibly try putting this ring on your toe. I tried reading oximetry off my toe and got very even readings throughout the night. < 1% drops in O2..compared to the 8% drops on my fingers. Don't buy this unless you want a very expensive O2 meter.

I own one of these rings and KNOW my night oxygen levels are terrible: 46 drops of over 4% last night, the lowest: 85%. But owning the ring doesn't make the problem go away, and knowing how to fix the issue are two different things. I use an oxygen concentrator at 2LPM, but I'm not sure it's doing me any good. If someone reads this and has any advice, it would be much appreciated. BTW - I seem to report almost exclusively Central Sleep Apnea.
@buggsy5 Жыл бұрын
As noted in other videos, the machine will not necessarily identify episodes correctly. That is partly why real time data logging is desirable. The concentrator will help, but I suspect you will need an A/B/Cpap machine as well. They have input ports for supplemental oxygen.
@jorisbonson3863 жыл бұрын
It's also worth a mention that Viatom files are compatible with SleepyHead/OSCAR, so if you have CPAP telemetry data from the memory card on your CPAP machine you can see time-aligned graphs showing what your machine was doing at the same time your O2 levels varied. I use it with a BiPap AutoSV (which titrates breath by breath) and it's fascinating.

This is a cool tool. It would be nice however if it came in at least 2 sizes. This one size fits all approach - doesn't really work. I have a size 13 ring finger and my "pinky" finger is almost too large for this ring and I question the accuracy because I have to wear it just below the the second joint. Also, after after a night of wearing the ring my finger feels strangled as if I had a constricting band on it all night. My results from this ring and my Samsung watch vary greatly, with the Samsung being much more critical of my sleep O2 levels (below 80%) while the O2 Ring says my levels were ok (above 90% all night). Those are significant differences and I am not sure if I trust either.

Is the ring RemSleep o2 ring or Wellue o2 ring?

Hey Nick, I got my O2 ring to show Myself that I needed to wear my cpap all night because It was severe apnea. I have only had it a week but so far with or without my cpap I am getting a score of 10.0- 9.9 each night with my lowest o2 at 92% w/ only 2 drops on one of the nights with cpap and no drops the one night and two half nights without the cpap. Small sample but good o2 levels. When I brought this up with my sleep Dr, He told me O2 levels mean Nothing, The AHI means Nothing, the machines are stupid and I am "Probably" having 5 or 6 an Hour and he is upping my pressures again for the second time in 3 weeks. I am confused, Am I right, that when one Stops breathing ones O2 levels will drop and my ring would register said drop and then when I breath again said levels would rise? Because I was just today made to feel like a complete fool for thinking such a thing. And no it did not show me that I needed to wear my cpap all night or any night. And now I'm wondering if this sleep Dr is, well a Dr. Of course I will keep using both and get more data.

Hey mate, check out this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX7adZxpeJiUbsU . You can upload your CPAP Sd card data and check out your results for yourself. Most doctors are clueless unfortunately. @@CPAPReviews Hi Nick, thank you for your response and here are some funny/odd results with my o2 ring. Without my CPAP In the last 30 days, I have only had one (1) drop below 90%, it was 89% for four (4) sec. my avg is 96% most nights. My best o2 scores are 10.0 my worst is 9.0.. while the ring does show drops of 3 and 4% usually 1-5 a night, 99% of them are still above or at 90% ( Three drops in all at 89% since I got my ring.). I don't think I have sever apnea now, even if I had it when tested, maybe because I was anemic and ended up needing three bags of blood and Iron desperately after my test and that resolved Most of the issues that had my GP send me to the sleep Dr to begin with, I have not discussed this with my sleep Dr because they canceled my last two appointments. I am going to my GP ( regular Dr) in a few weeks and will bring it up with them since my sleep Dr is MIA. I still do not feel like I sleep well But the CPAP never changed that and actually made me feel worse. I toss and turn and wake up a lot but it doesn't seem to be lack of o2. Is it possible to be misdiagnosed with Apnea?

Waiting for the newest releases of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, and perhaps the Mi Band 6. All products link to smartphones, etc. However, the replacement machines need to notify outsiders when "emergency conditions" are upsetting my body. In those stages, I am usually unconscious, or in a "Locked-In" syndrome, unable to notify any outsiders. Still searching for suitable devices. It needs also to have fall detection, with auto-notification to outsiders, when falls happen.

@wbeckmann69652 жыл бұрын
It does not show if you're sleeping with your mouth open. If you wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth you're breathing thru your mouth. I also was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (35 events per hour) recently and an overnight sleep test was done last week that determined that I will be using 8" of pressure when I get the CPAP machine (soon hopefully). I've been using this Lookee Ring for the last couple of weeks and looks like it will be a great tool to verify the CPAP is doing what it's supposed to, as well as help fine tune the pressure setting. Also, the alerts are a great tools to restart your breathing when the oxygen drops too low. That alone makes this device totally worth it.
