Hi Nick I was just recommended your channel today after asking a question on flow limitations. Never heard of it before but I’ve just used Oscar to read my data on my F&P machine and I’m having FL of over 200 closer to 250 or more every night. Is this something I need to be concerned about? I’m waking up exhausted and my recent sleep study said that my AHI has increased to 23 more during REM and oxygen levels go down to 70s. But looking at the Oscar data other then the FL everything else looks good. Hope you answer 🙏🏼 Glad I was able to find your channel. So much useful info and I’m definitely following 😊

I bought that O2 ring to find out if I should schedule an appointment with a sleep specialist. I spend hours sub 90% every night. I compared the results with my at home sleep study and they were basically the same. The differences in the data were so small that I am loving this ring. I am getting my CPAP on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what happens. I've had no energy my entire life and I have been successful in anything I set my mind to in spite of that, until I reach something I call "Burnout". If this can cure my chronic fatigue, depression, and anxiety I will be an unstoppable force on this world. I pray to Jesus this works. I will do everything I can to make this work. This is the first time I have felt real excitement about anything since I was a small boy. The possibility I might be able to live life like a normal person without medication actually has me feeling something. I have been emotionally dead since I was a child. Probably puberty. I don't remember most of my life. That could be as a result of this sleep issue too.

Thank you so much for your content!!!! Your channel has been a life saver. I received the new Res med 11 a week ago, after being on an old Phillips for nearly 8 years. I have had to try to adjust the Res med 11 nearly every night to figure this out on my own as my Nurse Practitioner had it set on 6 and it is hard to get ahold of her. Tried that one night and felt horrible. I watched your video on 5 of you reviewing someone's data and used your suggestions for them to put mine on auto, limit the variations and raise the pressure. I used 10-13. I also had to change mask back to my regular nasal mask as the nasal pillow was oddly causing slight nose bleeds. Changed the setting on machine to nasal mask as well. I am still a bit tired so I'm concerned about my blood oxygen levels and can't afford the magic ring and not sure my California state insurance will pay for that. All in all I just wanted to say thank you for putting out this so important information. If the people from my sleep lab know of all of this, they are sure not telling me about it and I'm not even sure that the data they gathered from my last two sleep studies were accurate. All the more reason to be grateful for you and your content here. Much gratitude!!!

I started monitoring my blood 02 prior to using the cpap. The 0x ring was how I figured out I had sleep apnea. So I have been confused about the AHI and why it would be important to monitor if my 02 sats are dramatically improved. I went from continuously dropping into the 80'-70's to maintaining even between 95-97 all night. HR dropped as well. It is a great tool. My AHI is always between 2-4. I put the ring on my cousin the other night. She has been on cpap for 5 years. Her 02 sats were horrible! So now she has that info and can go back to the doctor for a increasing her pressure. Thanks for bringing this to light for clarification! I also find the need to monitor times I took the mask off very irritating...of course need to go to the bathroom and/or let a cat out or whatever...geez....

While addressing cpap settings don't forget to address environmental factors. Clean filters, tubes, humidifier. A then check out the dust road your machine and in your bedroom. Vacuum floors, wash curtains, bedding, pillows etc. We always assume we've done these things. Yet just as often we think we have but haven't! Are your pets hanging out in your bedroom? Shut them out day and night! Are you eating things you're only mildly allergic too? How's your diet? If your not eating enough fruits and veg your not going to eat getting enough vitamins c a natural antihistamine and anti inflamatory. Tea coffee tea is especially good for asthma coffee as an emergency treatment for a full blown asthma attack while gettingto the hospital... AHI numbers dropped to below 2 and I am sleeping through the night...despite some bizarre dreams. Never considered blood oxygen levels. I still feel sleepy when i wake up...naturally and no alarm. I hope in the future that insurance will either cover such a device or that the cost of the device becomes cheaper. I might have to try and make my own from one of the cheap chinese bluetooth pulse oximeters and a bluetooth arduino module. I've seen a couple such projects. I'd just be interested in using the device for a couple nights. Gonna try the O2 ring out on them and see what we learn. Oh, I should add that your mate is doing a stellar job with the website. I'm a (backend) developer, and he's obviously the real deal.

I started using CPAP about a month ago, got an O2 ring that I ordered delivered today and am very curious to use it tonight. Did you find your O2 ring helped you with fine tuning your CPAP settings?

Gotta get an O2 ring. Information on the meaning of flow limit data is pretty lacking I had to dive down the scientific literature rabbit hole to get an understanding of why it was important and this video just confirmed my understanding in a much more simple and straightforward manner so thank you. Can the sleep hq FAQ be updated to include an overview of what flow limits are with an embedded KZbin link to this video?

I would get 2nd opinions too about Sleep Apnea, you could have Upper Airway resistance syndrome which is very similar to Sleep Apnea, might even be worse in some ways because you will not be sleepy but massively fatigued.

My Garmin watch was what set the alarms off for me. It was showing sp02 levels as low as 77%. I've since gotten an A/CPAP (no sleep study yet, just experimenting on my own) and am waiting on a proper pulse ox ring. I don't know how accurate Garmin really is in this regard.
@amandahale3247 Жыл бұрын
I wear oxygen ring he recommends nightly and assuming it is accurate...my Garmin watch is NOT! It regularly shows my oxygen way lower than the ring and a regular pulse oximeter (like if I check it during the day). I was pretty disappointed how inaccurate my Garmin appears to be.

My Garmin watch picked up my O 2 rather than the sleep center routinely ever checking oxygenation over the 3 years of therapy I’ve had. Mid 80’s for years and I’m not happy to learn this. Why is overnight oximetry not standard in the first few weeks of therapy as well as at least twice a year. I complained of not feeling rested and still nothing. Only paying attention to AHI is not good practice!

Now how are you...what action you take to increase o2 level
@andrewpersaud414411 ай бұрын
CPAP therapy can be summarized in a nut shell for optimal results: 1.) Get a nasal mask. Might have to try several before finding your personal favorite. Everyone's face shape is different. 2.) Get some mouth tape from Hostage Tape and tape your mouth while you sleep. Don't ask questions, just do it. 3.) Climateline. My sweet spot is level 4 @ 27 deg C. and finally 4) Start low and keep increasing every night until you finally feel good. AHI, flow rate, O2 levels....at the end of the day the only solution to your problems is to increase the pressure. If you don't have the time to track or dig deep into your data, increase by 0.2 every night. You'll just know you found your sweet spot, trust me. Forgot 5.) Less is more. When you found your sweet spot, stay there. Don't increase the pressure more. Forgot 6.) DONT USE EPR. The pressure fluctuations mess things up regardless which machine you have

This information that your page provides is exactly what my sleep study people were monitoring when I went through 3 different sleep studies. Hope to see that O2 ring soon so I can fine tune my Resmed 10 machine better. I have been tweaking almost daily and things are getting better than the sleep labs ever had me sleeping but I do find that running CP instead of auto generally results in more stable breathing but I still am a work in progress. My ideal tweaking is to get my O2 levels to stay up as I do have some breathing issues due to physical damage such as a broken neck as a baby, many brain traumas from bicycle accidents in my younger years, and Methane gas poisoning in my teens. Really looking forward to the O2 ring. Keep up the GREAT work.

@CPAPReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi, i've had experience with LOTS of Oximeters over the years. Certainly the best place to take an 02 reading is at the fingertip however they're not enjoyable to wear over long periods of time. The 02 rings are the next best option and they're very comfortable to wear so you can get a really good sample of data over many nights. Cheers

@@CPAPReviews I think the finger tip one would work for me if it connected wirelessly to the recorder. I think the wire would bother more than having my finger pinched. Do they work as well on a toe? I saw a video where one was used like that.

Yesterday was my first night using my cpap, and i am so grateful that i found you guys before i started using it. I was able to understand the data, i was able to use my cpap (airsense 10) properly thanks to your tutorials, and i feel more confident. I was feeling really bad when i got diagnosed, but now i'm starting to do the therapy and hope to improve. The first night is really compliczted, as it is a first experience at something not very pleasant, but im feeling more confident on the therapy now. I also had an apple watch to make tracking of my sleeping cycles, my oxygen levels and also compare it with the results i used using sleepHQ (really good app, it helps you a lot). When you combine all that information, you can see that things are improving. Thanks a lot for this video, i can see how all the data complements, and that you as the real time user, can track, monitor, and in cases change your therapy modes in order to get the best result. Thanks a lot!!

TS90 on 5.2cmH2O was 1minute 32 seconds vs 4seconds on 10cmH2O and average SpO2 only 1% different. Not sure I agree this is the cause of tiredness and the increase in pressure fixed symptoms since the change saturations is small.

I'm new to the channel and truly appreciate the information you provide! My question has to do with HR. Last night I had 0 drops, 96% avg. O2, lowest O2 level 92%. All great! But my HR always averages 50bpm, good or bad sleep. I set my alarm to go off if it drops below 45bpm. Last night it went off 14 times because of low HR. I'm curious if this considered normal? Do others have similar results without issues? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also not sure if Sleep HQ supports Resvent iBreeze 20A.
@CPAPReviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruben, welcome to the channel mate. I have to be honest here, i don't have a lot of experience in the field of cardiology. Over the last three nights my resting heart rate has averaged 52, 49, 53. I believe 'normal' resting heart rate is anywhere from 40-100bpm. Currently the SleepHQ is only compatible with ResMed/Philips but we are adding lots more machines in the coming months and ResVent will be one of them. Cheers

Great video, thank you! I told my Doc I don't feel rested or that great even after low AHIs on the Resmed AS10 for a couple of years and he wrote a script for Modafinil which is supposed to help you feel more awake. Anyway, I hated how the med was making me feel so I stopped it after telling my Doc. Unfortunately, my RS10 send the data cellularly to someplace where I can then see the results on the MyAir app. If I add an SD Card, will the machine stop transmitting cellularly? I think this data needs to reach the monitoring company because my insurance company wants to see my compliance so they pay the bills.

Hi Lisa, he knew he need to increase his pressure because of his low blood oxygen levels. Knowing how much to increase just comes down to trial and error. Most people will just go up by .5cm every couple of days. Some people like to do a big jump in the beginning just to see if indeed it improves 02 levels etc. Cheers

I'm brand new to this. Found out to two weeks ago how bad my sleep apnea is. I was told that I'm in the 1% of worst cases with my oxygen levels dipping down to 60% for one third of the night. I've just started with my airsense 11. My doc set the machine up to go from 6.0 pressure to 15 and it varies throughout the night. I have to say, i've experienced more clarity in my head, as if I've come out of a fog, but i'm still finding myself to be sleepy (NOT tired though as I used to be). Should I try to increase my pressure by a few points, is there any risk to that? Thanks

Hi Nicko, thanks for the video. Good and informative as always. I just get a look to my data at SleepHQ and mentioned that I don't have Flow Limit data on the timeline. 'Sorry, there's no flow limit data for today' but maybe this is because I use Dreamstation1 I suppose. Maybe DS1 doesn't provide information about flow limit. Maybe it doesn't have such sensor or the software does not provide data for this important thing. Also about all these O2 rings. I am confused which one is good, which one gives enough precise and consistent data. All of them hust don't provide with information about accuracy. Maybe this will help me to make a decision which brand CPAP machine to buy. I almost decided to get Lowenstein, but not sure about Flow Limit and also not sure if SleepHQ supports Lowenstein's Prisma. While a Resmed AS11 is too expensive yet or not available to all providers, and AS 10 is at the end of it's life as you say. And I am wondering why the manufacturers of CPAP machines don't integrate SpO2 monitoring in their machines as a standard or maybe optional feature. Maybe too much pain in the ass with registering as medical device etc.
