Great tutorials! I must have gone through the 737 ones a dozen times but each time I pick up something new, become proficient in it, then go back for another element to repeat the process

Great video. Many thanks. Is there no auto transfer mechanism between sectors? Although USA is just a single sign on, in Europe this will be very repetitive.

In real life there is, but on VATSIM it often doesn't work from the controllers side.

This is very informative. I wonder if you could also explain how to use CPDLC on the ground to receive clearance, etc.

CPDLC is an airborne system, you cannot request an IFR clearance with it.

Great video Emmanuel. I have a question about FMC winds. I see some videos on KZbin where 737 pilots will enter T/C wind into the CRZ WIND section of the PERF page, then go to LEGS-RTE DATA and enter the average wind from the flightplan, which gives all waypoints after the T/C the same average wind. Is this company SOP dependent? I have seen you instead enter the average wind from simbrief into the PERF page, rather than the T/C winds. I suppose all of this is redundant if you use the import winds function... Please clear up this confusion for me haha

Yes, it's company dependant. My airlines uses TC wind and then LEGS as well, but the PMDG has an older FMC version where you can only enter the LEGS winds after the route is executed - unlike the current real life one - so I kept forgetting to insert the legs winds after the briefing. In the end the legs winds are more important, so for the sim I started putting the average winds into the perf init page. Small "makes life easier" shortcut for flight simming.

Why not? Nice airplane overall and if a topic can be explained with it, why shouldn't I do it? CPDLC is a very good example here as the PMDG does not have it.

hi thanks for the video. in IRL how would you know the logon for ATC , mainly the first one you would connect to as i know you get handed off to the next controller via CPDLC? thanks

In my airline we find the log on codes in a document on our documents portal, it’s basically a map of Europe with all the countries that have CPDLC shaded in with their log on code

Can CPDLC be used for IFR clearances? I can see this being useful so save time and effort without the need to read back the full clearance.

No. ACARS can, but not CPDLC.

Yes, in the client. If you use vpilot double click on the controller station name.

Both, the call sign is normally included for all Controllers, many then put something like CPDLC ADRW behind it. But even if it's missing it's always a good idea to ask. "Please confirm your CPDLC Logon"

In the real world on the enroute charts, in the sim mostly in the controller info.

Hi there. Are you gonna do videos about Xplane 12 as well. Like the Zibo 737 or the Toliss Airbusses. I am curious what the differences are in your mind (flight model obviously, visually it is a lost case for Xplane already)Right now the game is far too buggy and underdeveloped, would not touch it yet,

It's exclusive to online networks and won't work with offline ATC. In P3D a lot of Addons had it, in MSFS not so many.

@@Xsocto18 those are set automatically by the FMC so that climb N1 won't exceed takeoff N1. Don't change them manually on the ground.

I love CPDLC, but its worth noting that here in the US, there's not a whole lot of adoption yet by controllers on Vatsim, at least not in my ARTCC (ZSE) or surrounding areas. There's some discussion that once VRC is retired and we switch to CRC, we might see more adoption though. I would definitely love to see native CPDLC support in PMDG planes! Its nice the third party client exists, but its definitely clunky to setup and use, and I just want all my MCDU stuff in one unit!

Based on my experience the CPDLC servers simply break down during CTP due to server overloads

How or where do you see controller remarks to see what icao code you should enter in order to login using cpdlc ? Is it in map.vatsim?
