You might not know it now Nate but you're learning a great amount of skills you'll be glad you have when you're older. Your dad is a great teacher, happy for both of you. Watching this video makes me glad I'm done with this phase on my baja project...so much hard, tedious work...keep up the good guys!

Gotta love doing floor pans. Peeling up the old spot welds builds up your forearms. Lol. The last floor pans I did, I turned the chassis over and cut the seam welds then wailed on the pans about an inch from the spot welds with a sledge hammer and they just popped loose. Really easy and fast.

LOL, IDK Dom! I guess KZbin doesn't recommend it enough, or not enough people watch it!

Sam, I installed a mini split in my garage to work on my VW. You should to!

I wish I had the wall space, unfortunately with all the cabinets on either side, and the house on the back side, there isn't room.

Thanks for showing the tips and tricks for pan repairs. I’ll be doing mine soon. I’m building a Baja Fastback. Also what did you end up doing for the replacement wiring harness?

That will be fun! I like non-standard Bajas. There was an awesome Baja Ghia that used to roll around town (Oceanside) when I was growing up. For wiring so far we just used a stock harness, and I usually use them as a base for all my harnesses. The only time I usually build my own harness from scratch is when I am working on a full race car. For all other stock based VW builds, a stock harness is the best place to start.

@@Sam_Mebane thanks for the reply. I found some pics of a really awesome fastback Baja and loved it. It’s unique and has its own style. I’ll definitely look into the factory wire harness option. That should be the easiest way to redo it. It’s really awesome that you get to build the baja with your son, he’s lucky to have the time he gets with you and the new skills as well. Have a super awesome day.
