@rps215
@rps215 8 жыл бұрын
+Crimsonis The fan is NF-A15 though, so it is easy to mistake it for NH-D15, but the NH-D15 doesn't have that jagged edge and is generally more boxy looking. The Silver Arrow Extreme is more jagged like that. If you are interested in dual tower coolers like that, just look around the websites of Noctua, Thermalright, Be Quiet, Deepcool, Phanteks, Cooler Master, and many others. Just like he said, make sure you have enough motherboard clearance for it and also make sure it doesn't hit the side panel of your case as well.

@akikomiwa2720 10 жыл бұрын
don't worry, if you buy a decent cooler from a reputable brand you shouldn't have any leaking issues provided that you don't tamper with the fittings and tubing I recommend something from; Corsair, Cooler-Master, Swiftech etc... (read reviews!!)

actually the stock is not good enough even without overclocking. when you game, the AMD CPU tends to go overheatting with the stock, and usually...(according to my experience, intel seldoms tho') a 4-8heatpipe 12cm fan heatsink is good enough for gaming under mild overclocking. you dont actually need watercooling, unless you room is small, and you dont want the exhaust heating you whole room up.
@pedrorezende2718
@pedrorezende2718 10 жыл бұрын
AMD recommends not exceeding 62º Celsius on their CPUs, but reaching that does not mean they are overheating, far from it in fact. CPUs can work at up to 95ºC without too much trouble, and some (AMD ones) can run considerably hotter than that without failing. Also, exhaust from the PC fans should not heat the room nearly as much as a person being there.
@lammatt
@lammatt 10 жыл бұрын
Pedro Rezende lol i am pretty sure you never used any AMD CPU then.
@pedrorezende2718
@pedrorezende2718 10 жыл бұрын
matt lam Actually about a half dozen of them. Never had an issue. Overclocked a couple with the stock cooler, still ran at acceptable temperatures and were stable. Maybe I got lucky with them, but in general my experience was that they run A LOT cooler than intel CPUs, and lock up a lot less with trivial tasks such as adobe reader (all other things in the PC being the same). The latest generations do tend to draw more power than a same-price intel though.
@lammatt
@lammatt 10 жыл бұрын
Pedro Rezende my experience with AMD has been generally bad.... i went apple classic >486 thinkpad > pentium> K6-2 >celeron 300A >celeron 500E> Althon >C2D >i5 >phenom2 i managed to get the celeron 300A to 450 without any issue, but couldnt even meaningful overclock the K6-2,and now the phenom 2 is giving me a lot of headaches... it fried a gigabyte motherboard (the northbridge chip died within a year, and killed a coolermaster 85plus PSU for me too, and i was just barely overclocking from 3.2 to 3.8 (not exactly a CPU problem... but i attribute it to amd anyways, stupid 790x chip.
@pedrorezende2718
@pedrorezende2718 10 жыл бұрын
matt lam Yeah...if you managed to burn through both the motherboard and the PSU there's something quite majorly screwed up there. Likely the stupid voltage regulations. And the airflow. And the PSU. And some major bad luck/recklessness on the overclocking. I also don't understand why you'd go from i5 to phenom 2. I mean yeah, the first gen i5 had the same performance as a phenom 2 x4 but unless it got fried, there's no reason for the change, even a x6 would not be much of an improvement.

I got a h60 for my i7 3770k and I'm perfectly happy with the setup, but.. I got the closed loop system because I feared that a large heatsink would put unnecessary stress on the motherboard itself. I have a Sabertooth Z77 'tuff' series motherboard with a 5 year warranty. So my question is: Was my fear justified, does that stress diminish the life of the board? Exclude the warranty.

I bought an i7-4770K. With the stock fan, the temps went up to 90's. Without overlooking and without using synthetic benchmarks (I use x264 for coding videos) So after thinking about it, I decided to get a water cooling solution. Now I have even lower temps, and the noise is even less than with stock. TBH, I wouldn't use a stock fan with a high end CPU. It's not worthy. L8er! P.S. Loved the case. C70 from corsair. I have the same, but in black. Looks awesome n.n

Wyatt Baragar YEAH, man! Thanks for chiming that in. The reason as to why I am glad, is because so many tech reviewers/technicians tend to use the minimal conditions/scenarios, as the most *extreme* scenario. I've been told over and over, that 8 gigs of RAM is fine, because there is no video game, or other application that can use enough CPU muscle, to need more than 8 gigs of RAM for "breathing room"/workspace/scratch paper, etc. Well now, my Nvidia Shadowplay takes a DUMP on my face, when I "shadow" game footage and crashed my video game so badly, that I have to physically disconnect my router/modem (while my system STILL bitches and farts for a few more minutes), just so it can return to a functioning system again! And on top of that, sometimes the video capture is too corrupted to open, OR I get this over-pixelated, psychedelic, LSD acid-trip version, which is far too messy to use! I've been reading tech/user complaints since 2001! Yes, two thousand and one! Over *FOURTEEN* freaking *YEARS* ago, that the official package of "Tribes 2" has hardware requirements that are *far below* the minimum of what you need, so that the game plays AT ALL, or *not choppy*! I am so paranoid about not having enough fan muscle to cool my CPU, or not enough RAM, for an app, I always like to go overboard, for the sake of "breathing room". My current system has a CPU that cost me (in Oct 2013) $300, which was more than my ASUS Sabertooth X79! The one I built in 2008 was $90 for the 2.6 dual and $250 for my motherboard! *I hate it when techs don't warn of more extreme scenarios, that still count as average use!!*

I had to open task manager, when my computer was dragging it balls on the ground, to see that the file "*plugincontainer.exe*" was taking FOUR GIGABYTES!! ARE YOU F====NG KIDDING ME?? I want to torture and crucify those software developers!! Way back in the olden days, of legends once known, there was this ancient, archaic technology called ASCII RAW F===ING TEXT!!! Ya know, boys & girls? Like the ALPHABET that we learned in Kindergarten. But hey!! Let's look at the "Corporatist" logic of a typical, sold-out, Silicon Valley tech-nerd: What POSSIBLE reason, do I have, to write software that actually WORKS, when I can market to companies, *(that with their bloated Java apps of ad banners, and other annoying torture devices, that make people's sytem CRASH, FORCE them to buy an extra couple of dozen YOTTABYTES of RAM, and make the MOTHA F===ER take an extra few hours to LOAD)*, that some flawed, choppy, messy business model, juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust might make them an extra buck or two?? It is SO ironic, that some of the DUMBEST people in the world, are the SMART people!!!

SilverHelm19 It isn't, a non overclocked CPU should be just fine with the stock cooler in an average case. And even if it weren't, are you seriously suggesting that buying a 200$ water cooling setup just to avoid taking out your mobo? Are you serious? 200$ for about 20 minutes of work? And it's not like installing a water cooling setup is the easiest thing in the world either.

If your fans won't clear your memory or other projections on the motherboard, what you can do is use smaller diameter fans. As long as they have the same motor power, they'll move roughly the same amount of air and have the same cooling effect. So, if a 140 or 120mm fan doesn't fit, you can use 92mm fans. Just make sure the motor power (in Watts) is the same. If the rated fan current is the same, they'll have a similar cooling effect, and smaller fans can clear your high memory sticks. If in doubt, use a fan with somewhat higher wattage than the larger one you're replacing--it'll cool just fine.

if your system's new, it's not an issue as long as it is not visible that the parts were water damaged, the manufacturer will take them back and replace them (if water marks are visible, then use rubbing alcohol to remove it), luckily pre filled liquid coolers are very robust and it is unlikely that they will fail unless they're old and the rubber pipes have perished which shouldn't happen for about 9 years!

It's a Noctua NH-D14. One of the best heatsinks around, and it rivals an H100 in terms of cooling performance.

If I put a water cooling radiator and fan right next to the CPU will it cool the CPU enough to where I don't have to worry about the fan blowing hot air from the CPU into the radiator?

If all the specs of the custom and the all in one are the same or pretty close then yeah they will preform the same or close to it. The major disadvantages to the all in one are 1) Tube length it adds unnecessary pressure on the pump and you have to find a way to route all the hose without kinking it or find a spot it can reach 2) Expandability if later you decide you want to cool a GPU too the pump is not designed to have more than the CPU/radiator and the radiator will likely not be big enough

howabout a fast as possible explaining input latency? I think a lot of people could benefit from the information.(ie, 30fps + 60hz display + 2 frame buffer = 82~66ms latency before input device latency is considered)

20 years of owning cars, especially used ones from my younger years, I specifically remember the radiator would often leak at some point in the car's life span. So for that alone, I'm never going to water cool my computer electronics. I could be wrong about these computer gadgets, but idk you tell me

Stock coolers don't actually come for free. Yes, they are most often included with the CPU, but if you look at prices of CPUs that are offered as 'tray', you'll see that they are usually like $10 or $20 less expensive than the box retail version of the same CPU.

Can I passively cool a quad core CPU while room temperature is 35ºC (95ºF) and I'm using it at 50-80%? Case has good airflow (2x20cm fans + standard exhaust fan).

You didn't mention compatibility. Does all the CPU cooler can be used with all the CPU? Before I buy a CPU cooler I checked on the compatibility and some of them state the CPU model to work with the CPU cooler. Or does it even matter?

This is extremely unlikely with a prefilled loop. Most leaks in custom loops occur where tubing connects to water-blocks, radiators, pumps, reservoirs or other fittings; prefilled loops have lets points of failure in this sense. Also leaks usually do not develop over time and occur straight away, therefore if the loop is likely to leak it would have leaked during shipping.
