Previously I just disabled Qfan from running until I updated my bios and cpu fan error appeared. I messed around with settings and even loaded optimised system settings without any luck. Came across your guide eventually and a simple fix. Thank you! Running aio and switched out fans to lian li which initially gave me the error and disabling Qfan worked before updating bios and this guide super simple booted right up into windows

Same problem switching from air cooling to iCUE H100 water cooler, I found a work around by pluging 1 of the the fan cables into MB CPU pins, but now i've seen this I fixed it as shown, thanks, great work.

Not too bad on your part. Swapping out a CPU cooling system won’t sound too complicated to oneself after it’s done, but it is very daunting for most users.

Worked like a charm, thank you ! Although in my case the fan had issue, be careful while using this fix cause if the fan stops the cpu will overheat and hopefully pc shutdown before damaging the cpu. New Fan applied all good.

I have had many people tell me that is arbitrarily started. In your case, a new GPU likely triggered the false positive CPU fan error.

I don’t know any way to slow the fans down through BIOS. That is typically done with software from the manufacturer like Corsair. Still, the fact the CPU cooling system is red, may indicate that it is failing to perform at required levels. The only caution I have in saying that it has outright failed is because some cooling systems have RGB colors that can be set. Barring something like that, it’s time to replace the cooling system. It’s relatively easy to do. Just take lots of photos with good lighting so that you know exactly where each fan goes, whichway they are oriented, etc. I like MicroCenter. They can help you pick out a compatible cooling system for your computer. If you’re not comfortable installing it, they charge $80 to do it. The cooling system itself should run between $80 and $140.
