Does anybody else appreciate PGI's realistic depiction of the Gauss Rifle? No swirly trail, no "pew" type noise but rather a realistic "pa-ching" and electrical sparks from the discharge as it fires.

Means anyone firing Gauss has no beam showing where they are firing from. Imagine being one of the attackers running this mission, you are nervously destroying objective after objective, waiting for but never seeing an enemy Mech as you destroy each strategic item. You are now moving into place to destroy the final objective, and suddenly your Mech is rocking from heavy hits, you are rapidly losing armor, limbs, components in your torsos, your Mech is destroyed, all in a matter of seconds. Even worse, until you (or a teammates) manage to spot the Crabs, you don't know where the weapons fire is coming from!

Terrifying, real life rail guns are insane. Mounting one on a mobile mech makes it more horrific. What a fascinating universe, that is Battletech.

Ben Ryman vs the 228th everyone is going to get rekt, I wouldn't reflect that badly on HHoD. There are a lot of pretty good units in MWO, but those such as the 228th, Lords, and SJR are a step above due to their more regular practices and stricter admissions requirements.

Ettienne van Staden They should have managed this when they knew how to run their lights: Stay in cover, don't approach assaults frontal, use your speed. I saw them running over the plattform and dieing. That was not a light rush. A good wolfpack can bring 1-2 assaults down, mathematically this would have result in atleast 6 kills for the attackers. I was once in a group who used 4 KGC on Portico at Omega and we totally smashed their first drop when the enemies tried to push Omega. However they didn't expect KGC so deeply in the base. On the second rush they could use lights, dodge the first defense line and pushing on the assaults. Works

Sadly this won't work anymore due to the 5 second cooldown on Gauss riffles, but the fact that you did this back when the only O-Gen was Omega, I'm very very impressed that you managed to pull this off.

The idea was range and concentrated damage. Most light mechs won't survive 30 points of instant damage to a left or right torso, and if they did survive, one or two leg shots could do it, another crab could hit the same target, and most importantly the 2 second cooldown on gauss means that they could attempt to shoot again before the light mech ran away.

If they didn't have their backs against the wall it would be, and light rushes can't kill all the generators now that turrets have been buffed. The biggest threat to losing their Gauss Crabs now is a simple matter of DPS, if a wave of meta timbers or any other IS assault build came up to their Gauss Crab team, the crabs would simply lack the DPS to kill their enemies faster due to the cooldown. Even against lights, they wouldn't be able to fire fast enough to keep all 12 of their crabs alive.
