Crabbing at Pine Beach, New Jersey

Hot Friday in July. We went to Pine Beach and caught 40 crabs in 4 hours. Another beautiful place in NJ. The water of Toms river was serene and glassy, with a little breeze and some clouds. The crabs were not getting into the traps but they were going crazy for the drop lines. Didn’t get to cook lunch because it was too hot. Had egg sandwich for breakfast and frozen coffee on the way home. Enjoy the video🥰!

@@thandastones888 That was a really fun video the crabs on Mystic is really big that's why we call them monster crabs. A really great place to crab is on green street at the end where the piers are in Tuckerton by Mystic Island. The 7 Bridges is great also. God bless you my friends.

LOL. Thanks. I can't wait to get back to crabbing and fishing. It was a big part of my life. My dad had started me when I was 4. We had a summer house on Butler Blvd in bayville growing up. Fishing and crabbing every weekend. ( We originally lived in linden). And I used to work on the miss. Belmar before I moved to PA. So I anxious to get back to it. Lol

No, we didn’t add any water, just the sprite. It makes the meat a little bit sweeter🦀

So I found that spot on Google maps as I'm local...does it get crowded there? Also can you crab at low tide there?

We’ve been here three times and we’ve never seen it get crowded yet😊. Your best bet is to come early in the morning and on a weekday ( avoid weekends ). Yes you can crab at low tide too. The deeper end of the pier should be a good spot even during low tide. But 2 hours before high tide is better🦀. Good luck😊

Only street parking in this pier. No meters, but watch for their street cleaning hours. Use of the pier and beach requires a badge. $10 dollars. You can wait for the enforcer to make his rounds and pay for the day’s pass. If he called out sick for that day, you’re in luck😊.

😊Parking is on the side streets. I haven’t seen anybody catching crabs on a kayak though. There is a crabbing badge required to use the beach and pier so just bring some cash with you for a day’s pass. Around $10. The drive to the place is not difficult at all😊. Enjoy and good luck 🦀!

We think so. We checked their website and they still require to pay the badge for pier and beach use.

Yes, there are signs that you need a badge to use the pier and go crabbing. You can get it from the municipality or wait for the enforcer to charge you for a day’s pass.

Yes, we believe it’s when they were small and got caught, the handling and releasing causes them to sometimes loose a claw or two in the process. By the time they’re keepers after a few weeks, you’ll see them with their missing claws🦀.
