Awesome. Can't wait for mine to get here. I have always thought it should be on higher stands than the rest of the ships. A higher stand would also bring the ship closer to the player creating an optical illusion that it is even bigger.

This painting is actually accurate to lore. The blue hues it had in the movies were due to lighting effects. The engines needing to be red is the only thing that's really off.

Congrats Crabbok! I was just as giddy as you this past Sunday when I picked up mine. I still don't know how a game store in Greenfield Wisconsin got a SSD before anyone else besides SD Comic-Con. I was the only one who preordered one so they only received mine. They didnt order any for stock because of the price and didnt think they'd sell. They called Friday and left a message saying your SSD has arrived. When I checked my messages and heard that I almost had a heart attack. I was out of town so had to impatiently wait two days to pick it up. But your right it is absolutely gorgeous. I read some comments saying they don't like the paint job. I think they'll change their mind once there holding one in their hands. Anyway I'm glad you got yours. I love seeing people happy. Great unboxing!

@@scottwallbank4794 I was expecting that gray, but a darker superstructure on the upper side, as well as a darker hanger bay. From the coloration in the video it almost seems like it isn't painted, if not very lightly, but it could simply be the lighting.

I always felt that the engines should be blue on the SSD as well, so I can easily live with it. Otherwise a beautiful model. I was planning to repaint it to darker colors, but this actually looks hands down awesome! I think I'll leave as it is! Superbly detailed, can't wait to get my hands on it!

Not as fan of the Epic Raider-style pseudo panel lines. Obviously they couldn't replicate the sheer amount of detail of the original model. But the effect here looks too big, haphazard and abstract at that scale.

The end of the tape measure is supposed to move like that to allow for accurate measurement when doing an "inside" measurement instead of an "outside" measurement. When measuring like you are, let the end expand to it's fullest to get the accurate measurement. The reason that it moves is that when you are measuring into a corner, it compresses by the width of the tab to allow for that width to be included in the accurate measurement.

Talked to my FLGS today about my pre-order from last year and he told me the SSDs are in Canada, so it should be available next week. Woohoo can’t wait. Definitely going to paint my engines red though. Gotta say the detail is crazy.

Agree w/ comment @7:17 - definitely disappointed the stands are the same height. That's usually how FFG had suggested in the past that a different sliding scale was in use - different stand heights, nevermind the practically of avoiding bumping. Why not do that, here? Hmph! Hopefully someone makes some clear acrylic at some point that matches the other ships better...

That is gorgeous, though the normal ISD color for the hull feels weird. Checking the filming model it looks like the grey wasn't that dark, just a little darker than an ISD, so I guess most of the blue hull coloration was lighting and this is pretty accurate. It's just like all the problems I had finding a color to paint an Enterprise D model! Still, super excited for this!!

@@acidous Honestly, the more I look at pictures of the filming miniature the more I think that is shadow rather than paint. It's a really hard call though to try to achieve screen accurate versus miniature accurate results though, and one that people like me agonize over a great deal. I kind of prefer screen accurate, but it's not simple.

Maybe inner liights had something to do with that effect (afaik sides were made from thin brass plates with holes, because using fiber optics would take too much space). But still, I think they should make "city" a bit darker like in promo art, not to mention those terrible blue engines.

@@acidous I'd have preferred that as well but maybe they were thinking it would be easier for hobbyists to make it darker than lighter? Before I had any idea what I was doing I slathered a bunch of nuln oil on my first VSD and it looks pretty cool, and I imagine that would work pretty well on the city bits, but might need a whole bottle. Yeah, those blue engines are kind of a problem. Crazy that they didn't use fiber optics with that thing. I bet for pictures just the right lighting would do it, like how in Star Trek Discovery the ship looks more blue but there the model, which is just CG in this case, is really copper. I'm just getting into modeling stuff, so I only know enough to be bewildered and over-think color choices.

I don’t think that’s a big deal. It’s a mass produced gaming miniature not a highly detailed display piece. Sure there will be bits wrong with it but I still think it’s outstanding for what it is.

You forgot the most important feature to be answered...can you fit an A-Wing so it's crashing into the bridge? Also, when you showed the flyover from front to back all I could think about was the Spaceball I flyover in Spaceballs. As for the happy face, I noticed a long time ago there is a "P" on the Home One model (topside, left rear between the engine and just behind the main bridge). Any other hidden things I may have missed? In a more serious note, SUPER STAR DESTROYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna take a week to paint it, but worth it!
