And the one that is not hesitating and attacks ready to be injured, will overpower the the one with a knife, even if that one is ready to kill. - As a NCO my primary drilling was fixed bayonet fighting. (30 years ago) I saw two kinds of people : those ready or not ready to do harm and those that "hesitated" in both situations although they seemed ready, and that's it... - whatever you do go for it, do not hesitate, totally determined that when running is not an option you show to your opponents that you will go down taking as many as possible down with you , and you might even win ...

Knife dissarm 1: Dont. The most valuable self defense advice i've got is: whomever pulls a weapon first, wins. If its hand v. Knife, dont fight, run.
@FUBARGunpla4 жыл бұрын
Yup, when I was first starting martial arts (Muay boran) I remember asking my instructor just out of curiosity and his advice "fight a knife, expect to get cut, no ifs ands or buts, your better off pulling yourself out of that situation entirely, there are some people who will tell you about jacket techniques or clothe defense but even then, your asking to get cut" and the one time I ended up getting into a fight with a knife, I drew first, I knicked him, but still caught a cut myself and in the end the both of us ended up in the fucking hospital for cuts, but I was young, naive and fucking stupid, should've just pulled out and said fuck it not worth it. Could've easily lost it all thinking I knew what I was doing. Decades later I know better.
@audi884 жыл бұрын
I have seen most experienced martial arts teachers say - in a street fight if someone is going to stab you, they won't brandish it like bad guys do in the movies, they will silently sneak in hiding the knife behind their backs, and run away after a few violent stabs. You should run away at the slightest hint that someone is carrying a knife. and well thats your simplest "Knife disarm part 1".
@MrHFam-st4ni4 жыл бұрын
As a martial artist... I just knew that the reason why hand to hand combat was made... was if you lost you weapon as a last resort, not to fight someone with a weapon to be cool. So... I learnt the best way to nullify a knife attacker was either yeet an object at them or learn the French art of parkour. We were still taught a few knife defenses..... but our teacher always explicitly expressed that this was an absolute last resort

Yep, my instructor always told us, no matter how good you are, there's a reason why knives were invented! Once you're in close enough to try ANY kind of defense, you're cut, PERIOD! There's a reason why cops tell people to drop the knife or they'll shoot, cuz once they get within a certain distance you're pretty much screwed!

As a law enforcement professional I have seen police officers get sliced up pretty bad with a knife when they tried to disarm a suspect. Some of these officers were expertly trained in MMA or BJJ. Which shows that even a trained professional in a discipline that is more practical when it comes to actual fighting can be injured or severely injured. Makes me feel bad for a few reasons. 1-people might actually try these ideas and get themselves hurt or killed, and 2- they have faith in what they’re learning. I’ve been training in plum blossom boxing for almost 35 years. I absolutely love the traditional training and learning, as well as keeping me physically and mentally sharp. But......... When it comes down to actual fighting, I can apply some principles that are common across the board of real fights. Outside of that, most of training forms are out of the question, I study boxing and grappling for the real deal. It still blows my mind that the masses are pulled in with frauds, smoke and mirrors.
