The people parking there are obviously living there, and weeks to months at a time. I went there in person and found out about 3 weeks ago. They do move and shuffle around to other places often, but people get stranded mostly because of a mismatch of drug buddies and spending their money on drugs. I noticed they just emptied the place completely, so living there maybe isn't allowed anymore or maybe only until the police go away. They only come one day a week. The tag violations are nothing because if you LIVE in the vehicle they will not tow. They can tell people to move during a cleanup operation, they intimidate them, but they come right back. The police would not do an operation except at a time when there's a lot of them and city workers there TOGETHER supporting each other. They are seriously afraid of getting hurt. I've been onsite for that and learned it 1st hand. Just say you live in the vehicle anywhere you are, and they will not tow. But if the vehicle is not street worthy like all those flat tires or if arresting someone, they can tow. They can tow if the vehicle is having a lot of complaints from the neighborhood and they get that because of so much company that keeps frequenting a van, or junk piling up from drug buddies who recycle, and dumpster dive to sell for a living. Parking citations are not an issue for out of date tags or they wouldn't exist out there. They just ignore them because they can say they are living in the vehicle. In the case they are away from the vehicle, they might tow it because nobody is there to say they are living in the vehicle, so they can sneak it off and say they are getting too many complaints. That only happens when they are parked outside near Venice houses. The homeowners are hysterical about losing property value and lifestyle and mostly some of the druggies might rob or burgle their estates and they don't seem to catch a single drug dealer.

Sad what drugs and alcohol does to people's lives. I speak from experience. I was od'ed at 13 and homeless at 32. And before anyone thinks that the county doesn't help, I got into a shelter, then a county rehab and never took another drink. Celebrating 36 years clean and sober in a few months. And for all you snobs looking down your noses I worked right up until I herniated a disc in my back, couldn't work, and then ended up homeless. You don't know what got these people into the situations they are in and I pray you never find yourselves in similar circumstances. Oh and I absolutely have no issue with the Rangers and Police enforcing the letter of the law. I'm all for cleaning up the messes.
