I used to work a company making products containing SBR and natural latex that are also used in bike tyres. A combination of sunlight and oxygen used to perish our products ( I used to work in the lab ) and after several years turned some of them to dust. Tyre manufacturers can add anti-oxidant compounds to prevent oxidation but of course you can't tell visually. It's probably a good idea to completely cover bikes in a light proof shroud, especially if you leave them long in the Sun. Indoors, light passing through a window can crack tyres. Maybe the cheap ones are more prone to this ? I've never really noticed this on car tyres , but maybe the surface wears away before surface cracking starts ?

My dear Relja, every owner of a car, a motorcycle or a bike is responsible for the quality of the tires due to the healthy responsibility for the rest of his/her/whatever life…..

Interesting. I don't normally let my tyres get that bad, normally such a worn or perished tyre will start getting punctured easily, time to replace.

Just replaced 2 sets of tyres on bikes at home. Plenty of tread but rotten in the walls. Would not have tyres with this deterioriation on my cars tyres and do not accept it on a bike.
