I'm writing this to Joel. I hope you see this. If anyone knows how to get a message to Joel, please let me know. I have an odd request. I'm a drummer and a huge Neil Peart fan. There's one particular part in a particular song that I'm still having trouble with trying to play it. I'm 54 yrs old and have been playing since I was 12. I can play pretty much play anything else from Peart. The song is La Villa Strangiato from Exit Stage Left. The part I'm gonna focus on is starting at 3:53 thru 5:33. Now its not the entire section i have trouble with. I can play the first half of that section with no problem at all. Up until 4:32, the hi-hat has been closed. But at 4:32, he starts opening the hi-hat. And therein lies the problem for me. From 4:32 till the end of that section, I still cannot play. Specifically the opening of the hi-hat. I've tried everything I can think of to learn that part. I simply cannot put that together. So here is my request. I would be deeply appreciative if you could record that section and set a video camera up showing both feet playing. The bass drum and hi-hat. I need to see the footwork in that section. The hands I don't need to see. The footwork I do. Could you please, or anyone else that may read this, video yourself playing that part with the video showing your footwork. I've searched everywhere looking for a video of that but there simply isn't one anywhere. I'll look back in this comment section every day looking for a response. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me with that.
