Corals are extremely important for the environment and I’m not 100% sure, but this starfish eating or destroying the corals brings more harm than good. So ngl, I think it’s good to make the most out of removing it from the ocean. Although it wasn’t very successful, interesting video indeed!

So, for anyone who hasn't bothered looking it up, there's the toxins called saponin, which is water-soluble, and the other called sapogenin, which is fat-soluble. Meaning, the reason why the fried one didn't taste toxic is because the fat removed the toxins in the starfish. Another point, every stage of this starfish possesses the toxins, so yeah, eating it raw was probably the worst choice possible, hahaha...

I know this is old but crown of thorns star fish are poisonous. They contain a cyanotoxin called plancitoxin. Its a nasty neurotoxin. Cooking does not destroy the plancitoxin. There's also saponin another cyanotoxin that they possess. They are kinda a soup of toxibs really. There are however other species of starfish which are edible. I like them deep fried. The greenish brown flesh tastes remarkably like sea urchin to me.
