This incorrect, the lobster is alive, ice does not kill them, it makes them sluggish. I reported this video for animal abuse. If you care about animals please report I also. Thank you.

It's too bad though that you're supposed to put them in ice water and THEN make a deep incision along the underside of their shell to kill them. The cold water is just for stunning it.

@@youngkappakhan Correct, the ice water just puts them in a hibernation state so they are easier to handle... It's how they get shipped alive.

@のののののよ its mostly just morals. Do animals tear each other apart in the wild? Yes look at wild dogs they eat their prey alive but humans have big wrinkle brains and it would just be cruel to make something suffer before killing it with us subconsciously knowing that its suffering.

@@gardenweeds27 I don’t think so ( I vaguely remember he mentioned in his previous videos that he was originally from somewhere in Kyushu or Shikoku??????) , but I suppose he is now based in some remote island in Okinawa.

I've read that killing lobster using ice is one of the most generous method, instead of putting them in a boiling water. This is just an FYI by the way, cmiiw

Putting them on ice just slows them down as they naturally live in colder waters, it just makes it easier to handle them. In fact that is how they ship them alive is to pack them in ice water so they go into a hibernation state. You either have to knife their brain or boil them both of which lasts only takes a few seconds. (any "screaming" you hear is just from contractions of the muscles)

It is, we tend to carry a container with ice to kill them after harvesting during season in Florida, at least most of us do.

@@Lugia21 why would you kill them as soon as you catch them I still want to know they are still alive just before I cook them and I use the knife to the brain fast and sure. By the why the best whole lobster 🦞 is a Maine Lobster the Florida? Lobster has no delicious claws to eat and the tail gets harder when cooked than the Maine Lobster 🦞

Good vid. Nerdy side note: the ice water didn’t kill the lobster it was hypothermic and comatose. That why it was still moving. This is evident after the real kill, cutting the tail out, many of the neurons in the reflex arc were still communicating with the muscle cells. The critter wasn’t truly dead (on the cellular level) until it was boiled.

Yeah, it was very obvious that it wasn't truly dead when he was cutting into it.. Some would argue that it was just nerve spasms, but the tail flip right before he freaks out makes it very apparent that the lobster was still alive.

@Cameo If it makes you feel better , though it was "alive" it was completely comatose, so it still felt and knew nothing. It was all just natural reaction, like when someone hits your knee to test your reflexes.

That is absolutely the best I’ve ever seen anyone take apart the tail!!! Nothing was left to waste! Nice job!! I’ve seen master chefs butcher the hell out of a lobster tail, and the good meat looked like hammers ash.

I love how he has compassion for all the animals he consumes. The little squeal the lobster gave off was so cute, I felt so bad for it. But people have to eat somehow, and it's the circle of life. Gotta eat 😔. You are a good man sir, and tbh you would make an amazing friend too eh 👌😌!

I am not at all squeamish and will handle seafood alive or dead without being frightened. I can touch the guts, eat anything. But the squeak awww if anything squeaked at me I wouldn’t be able to pull through and would keep it as a land pet 🤣🤣🤣

Love your videos. I’m from Seville, Spain, and when we do Ajillo with Shrimp or prawn, we only use oil (aceite de oliva virgen extra), garlic, dried chillies and parsley (optional) I’ve never seen someone before using broccoli and mushrooms but it looks delicious!!! I wish I could try all your dishes 🥲

Además primero se tuesta el ajo y las guindillas y luego se echa la carne que se hace rápido, vigilando q no se queme el ajo. Aquí se hace con gambas y langostinos, nunca lo he visto con una langosta 😏

Yeah I saw one channel where the lobster head was still alive to see it's tail being served. I thought that was especially cruel. I never watched that channel again.

This is the crustacean that makes it feel the clearest just how closely related they are to spider and scorpions. I don't have a problem with other kinds of lobsters or crabs, but I feel like I would be too freaked out to get close to this kind irl.

They're not related to spiders and scorpions though. Any semblance is just convergent evolution.

Spiny lobster usually tastes better than Maine lobster, tho Masaru said this one didn't taste very good. However, The more common spiny lobsters have never disappointed me.

@@rajbhattacharya4427 crustaceans and arachnids are in the same phylum. As are hexapoda (spring tails and most other insects) and myriapoda (centipedes/millipedes)

@@rajbhattacharya4427 i study biology (marine biology, actually) and they are definitely related. they're all arthropods. it is not convergent evolution at all, no clue where you would've gotten that from

調べてみたらゴシキエビはイセエビ属に分類されていて、その中に伊勢海老も含まれるそうなので、「伊勢海老は~」じゃなくて「イセエビは~」っていう説明だと思います。

ニンニクの芽っつーか葉ニンニクですね!!本格的麻婆豆腐にも入ってますし、日本だと高知の料理であります(葉にんにくをすりつぶしたものと酢味噌をあわせた高知の「ぬた」で食べるブリのお刺身や茹でた厚揚げは絶品です!!)

食べた事が無いけど五色海老は綺麗な模様で伊勢海老の中では一番不味いのを関係者は知っているから鑑賞用として水槽で飼われているのですね⁉️納得しました。 伊勢海老🦞も食べた事が無いけど。

きのこフライパンに入れてるところまで5秒スキップしたんだけど、いきなり「きとうですね〜」って言い始めたから何かと思ったらその後すぐ「適当でいいんですよ」って言ってたので安心しました。

These lobsters are more common than the other kind in Thailand. It's pretty well known that the small ones taste better than the big one - meat is softer with more flavor.
