How did you verify the tension on the left supply reel? Don't tell me you used a torque meter cassette. The trouble of maintaining cassette decks is that it COSTS more to buy the tools than to buy them by the tens.

I have a torque cassette but can not measure the back tension with that model. I was measuring 15 kHz tape playback and tuned unless high frequencies stop changing the level between left/right channels between play/stop modes.

@@hifirulezzz Good intuition, I'll try to keep this in mind... it can't be a so rare condition on these vintage decks.
