Just out of interest - what would you do with this if the expanding foam wasn't around? how do you think the old boys would have dealt with it?
@PaintingandDecorating
@PaintingandDecorating 2 жыл бұрын
Well some large gaps they would stuff news paper, plastic bags.. empty plaster bags.. some still do it... Have found this a lot . Usually you would just repair this in the same way.. re tape and fill.. foam is just perfect.. and a long term fix saving money.. thanks

What if the plaster board is on the ceiling and is pulling away slightly? What can secure back to the joists?

It looks like black mould is coming through which is why the dry lining was put on in first place the whole wall was black but also there’s strange patches on ceiling now beside the crack and on the dry lining itself had two areas that are dark patches the whole way down the wall and again discoloured looking! I have had several chest infections since I moved into this room hospitalised with them could there be mould spores coming through the wall affecting my chest I always have a running nose and cold like symptoms fatigue etc all time ? Any advise ?

I've got to ask you this. You always use foam so why don't you buy yourself a proper foam gun. It's so much better that what your using. Trust me on this. If you try it you'll wish you brought one years ago. Plz just go buy 1.
@PaintingandDecorating

Promise will definitely be trying one.. we have just been talking about this.. we've not tried and it's a must.. thanks

I disagree. I've used both extensively and you just can't beat the soldu tins. So much easier to use. No clean up, last ages and not that much more expensive. Foam quality is good too. Dense and rigid once set. Only ever bother with the gun if I've loads to do like plaster boarding etc with foam adhesive. Odd jobs you simply can beat the tin used here
@alansupple5350
@alansupple5350 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrJimtimslim each to there own. I always used the tin foam but got fed up with the lack of control. I also was worried about the clean up. But its super simple and takes 10 seconds. I couldn't use those tins now as you so restricted. Gun all the way for me.

Yes dont bother with the guns stick to the cans lot less agro especially when cleaning
@alansupple5350
@alansupple5350 2 жыл бұрын
@@yvonfem cleaning takes no more than 10 seconds. Just attach it to the gun and press the trigger. Simple. The gun has so much more advantages than the can. If your using the can for just a little bit of DIY then fine. But if your using foam a lot the it has to be a gun.

It was YOU yourself that put me onto foam some years ago but a foam gun is ten times better than a DIY canister. A foam gun is more accurate, much less messy, easy clean up, preserves the contents till empty, much more accurate, and saves money in the end as there is a lot less wastage. Get a gun mate and they are as cheap as chips.

That’s settlement cracks plasterer has done nothing wrong
@PaintingandDecorating
@PaintingandDecorating 2 жыл бұрын
It's a loft conversion.. nothing to do with the building settlement... not totally the plasters fault... It's more down to shrinking of timber drying out. The scrim and small amounts of filler can not with stand the pull. Thanks
