No one comes close to the lyrical greatness of Dani. No one. For instance - and this can be said for any COF album, but since it is a concept album and the lyrics flow together, song to song - take Cruelty & the Beast. I’d say that is the greatest written album of all time, with a depth of lyrical greatness made even more difficult due to it being a continuing story.

Simply amazing retrospect! Yeah, the band has lost it's mystery a long time ago and 2010's is so much different than 80's and 90's due to (probably) internet having lowered the shock value of everything. Simply put, people know lot of *real world* s*ht which scares much more than some made-up-anti-fantasy back in 90's. Back then Filth was really taken seriously by so many people, be it those back-then-teenagers or pro-christian-groups. Controversy was a real thing back then... now that the time has passed it's amazing to hear the point of view from the performer and I *really* love the way you guys got "the final laugh" by telling how (well, arguably) easy it was to control the crowds of listeners and haters. Right act at the right time. As for the music, I think it's amazing Filth continues it's journey! I stopped listening after the Cruelty And The Beast, as that was the peak album for me, but I was pleasantly surprised by live show the band threw in Finland 2018 - It was a nostalgic journey and band really threw a show, both visually and music-wise. Nice job! It's fun to hear Dani credit the soundtrack-genre and the importance it played for Filths music. Back in the 90's I was still growing to the music and slowly becoming (still an amateur) musician. After many iterations for over 20 years I finally understood that everything I had really loved in metal scene was about *the atmosphere*, which finally evolved my composing towards soundtrack-music. Filth with many other great band made great impact for my personal growth and those great songs are still part of music I continue to compose. Yeah, hell-of-a-retrospective! Cheers!

Then Comes Silence is indeed amazing, Dani. Everybody should listen to them

I've just listened to them. Yep they're really good, somewhere in between The Sisters Of Mercy and Bauhaus. It's quite logical that Dani likes them.

She was divinity's creature That kissed the cold mirrors A Queen of Snows Far beyond compare Lips attuned to symmetry Sought Her everywhere Dark liqoured eyes An Arabian nightmare... And I am In Poland :) I see this lyrical depiction everywhere. And On 29th of april I will be on my 1st ever concert watching Cradle of Filth. Fuck yeah

Great interview. I used to just disregard bands like COF, Cannibal Corpse, etc. They didn't fall into my box style wise and image wise. Now I'm in my '60s and I appreciate the technical ability and the intelligence of the people behind the music. First time I heard of cradle of Filth was from a guy in my music theory class. He had a radio show late night on our local community radio station. He also played in a metal band. The next time I heard cradle of Filth was when it was walking by my daughter's bedroom when she was in high school and she was teaching herself how to play the bass by playing along with their albums. She's pretty amazing that way and it opened me up to checking out more of the material. Anyway, thanks for the great interview.

That album was the last straw for me. From Cruelty and the Beast onwards the sound became to polished and then they move to Sony of all labels and became this pompous sad looking circus. No thanks, nice bloke but

Most people still don't understand that Cradle of Filth is an extreme GOTHIC band, they're goths who happen to like metal, not the other way around

COF is the first black metal band I listened too. I first heard Born in a Burial Ground at age 15 during my descent into metal. I learned how bands can implement symphonic elements in metal music. Folks can hate, but you can't deny Filth's influence in extreme metal.

This guy is someone I enjoy listen to. Be it CRADLE, or an interview like this, I feel a bit of hope that not all is lost. I remember buying CRUELTY as a senior in High School, didnt give much thought to em since. Here it is 2021 and I have tons of material to dig through, all the material people scream "sell out" about, I love it. This band is what I have been missing all along. Brilliant and Artistic.

Jonny Jonny Nobody knows EVERY band and not every band is for everyone. We embrace all facets of alternative music and try our best to provide a platform for artists to be candid and help expose all kinds of new music to people. Wouldn’t it be cool if someone found out about a band they really loved through Dani’s recommendation? Thank you so much for watching this and supporting Cradle Of Filth and us. We greatly appreciate it and hope you enjoyed the video. 🤘

0:47 so true, I really liked the times when I worked on Saturdays as a bicycle repairer when I was a teenager and spend half of my day's earnings (when there where no euros yet) on an album. I loved the exploration of bands in dusty record shops discovering CoF, Dimmu Borgir, Nile, Aeternus, Suicidal Tendencies, Biohazard, Panchrysia, Red Harvest, Meshuggah and many more. I still have the CD's. Man, those were good times. Can't wait to see CoF this year in October.

when i heard "gothic romance" back then in my scool age when i was 13,14.. years old I was shocked how powerfully and well, deeply, mixed feelings and to this day, in my 40s, I still feel these songs from that era, and especially for this song, which is a timeless and perfect work. I'm really glad that the band exists and works today!!
