Hello there potters. A while back I made a video that was just messing around. In that video i told yall i was making my grandfathers urn and a few of you wanted to see how i made it. This is that video. In this video I will be showing you how I made a 1.75 foot tall urn out of clay. I hope you enjoy the relaxing background music. No ads, no talking, just chill.

I'm so sorry about losing your grandfather. What a great honor to be able to make an urn for him. I know from making these myself, it feels like their hands are guiding yours as you create the form. They are right there with you through each step. My heart is with you and your family and thank you for sharing. Lots of love.

Beautiful. You know, watching you make this I think represents grief... it’s exhausting & so very hard at first. Everything seems out of control and it seems like life is out of balance. It feels like it’s all gonna implode. But, you slowly work through the loss with tears, rest and then by keeping going. Just little bits along the way (watch out for the waves of grief along the way), things start to balance out again. Eventually you end up with beautiful memories. it’s a long, tough road with hills and valleys, switchbacks and breakdowns. But, rest, and then keep going.

Speaking from experience, that's super tough. So sorry for your loss. I'd comment that throwing might be therapeutic at this time but you covered that in a previous video. Be well.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather. What a beautiful and heartfelt piece of art you made for his cremains. I really loved how you pressed your fingertips into it - kind of like an embrace. A friend who is terminally ill recently asked if I would make her urn, and of course I said yes. How can I refuse an honor like that? But I’m going to have to do some research, as I have no idea how big it will need to be. As a soldier, I carried lots of little plastic boxes with the cremains of soldiers inside, but I think I was too detached to think about things like volume. It certainly makes things more “real,” doesn’t it? Bless you, and take good care.

I'm sorry for your loss. Both my paternal Grandparents are buried in urns I made for them, and my Great Grandmother is buried in an urn my Dad made for her. My Grandpa actually asked me to make their's when they were alive. It was a skightly akward conversation, but I was happy to do it.

Hai Donte, why don't you use spiral wedging. In my opinion it is much more usefull then the oxhorn wedging when you have to wedge a large amount of clay. Greetings Kees from the Netherlands.
