I love your ideas, Kathleen. Those two books you bought on your antiquing tour are terrific. One thing I love to find in old books are names of the previous owner--handwriting is so personal and special. Also, it's fun to find a clipping, a bookmark or other item left behind in a book. I have to tell you that your previous video about aging/altering portraits and illustrations from old books opened my eyes to a book I found this week at a resale store. It's a 1938 copy of a book about the New York Oil Company. I paid 50 cents for it! I haven't really sat down yet to look through it thoroughly, but the end papers/flyleaf pages have a wonderful, illustrated map at the front and back of the book. I would have paid the whole price just for those pages alone, but it also has many portraits and illustrations that are going to be so fun to work with. So, thank you for widening my view of things to use. I love clipping out those phrases from book pages, too. You're right about the writing of previous times being so much richer. I think it's true of old letters, too. Even as recently as the 1950s, people's letters were so colorful and interesting that it transports me back to that time with them. I wish that way of writing didn't seem to be fading away. I want to see handwriting as well as descriptive writing make a comeback. And here is me, going on and on. ha ha Thanks for "listening" to my rambling. Loved this video as usual.

Thank you Kathleen, for such an interesting & informative video! I knew about some ideas from watching Rachel (Roxy Creations), but some are also new to me! I’ve been a bit more scattered in how I’ve used book pages, so I like your more focused approach! I’ve heard many people say, “save the binding pieces, they’re good to use” but I’ve never seen how to actually use them!! Another mystery solved! I also like to stamp words & phrases on blank pages & the blank space around the page, they’re especially pretty when the paper is older & yellowed! So much to ponder! Your current journal is so pretty, I’ll enjoy seeing a flip-through whenever you have it finished! Have a great rest of the weekend! Erica❤ Congrats on your new subbies!❤
