I'm a 53 year old guitar player, In my 20's did alot of home recording with sequencers, modules, 4track, 8 track tape machines. trying to get back into it a little so trying to learn a DAW is challenging since I dont have the free time I had 30 years ago. I've been so used to putting hands on a keyboard or the pads of my MPC60II to create so I amazes me how many people creat good stuff using step recording which has been around for a while. Been browzing alot of Studio one videos to help me learn. GOOD TEACHING SIR & will check out some of your others.

Very nice video. I recommend that everyone that does music, get the book "Chord Encyclopedia" by Albert De Vito, I carry it every where I go that is studio. And if someone wants a chord different from the chords I made I always have all types on deck. The more you use them the more you will remember chords.

Excellent work. I primarily use Ableton Push but recently purchased Studio One. I plan to employ a lot of your techniques in both daws and subscribe to your website. Keep em coming bruh!!!

Wowww Im gonna have to follow u for sure. I just got the Yeti Mic All-In-One Studio and it came with the PreSonus Studio One software. The thing is is that I have a KEYBOARD, I have A MAC, But I NEVER did this before. I am a BEGINNER from the VERY beginnings. So to open my Studio One Version 3 OEM is like looking into a KALEIDOSCOPE, it is ALL CONFUSING. I want to make music, beats for myself and so far u look to be the one to get some sort of understanding from. Do u have ANY RECOMMENDATIONS as to what video may good for me as a SERIOUS BEGINNER.

nice tutorial Z! I got a nice chord game but never use dorian scale thanks for opening my eyes to that.
@Craftmaster39 жыл бұрын
Yeah Dee that was a problem for me because I would research progressions and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how people where using that 2 chord in the minor scale because it sounds so cheesy. One day I had a buddy of mine break it down for me and he was all like "yeah dude you just have to raise the fifth to get it sound right" so when I tried to do it in piano roll I flicked through the scales and found out that him "raising the fifth" was really him switching to the Dorian scale. It's hard sometimes for computer musicians and real musicians to communicate sometimes. When I asked him how come he just didn't tell me he was working in a different scale he told me "I just play what sounds good and worry about what the scale is later". That works good if you play instruments but if you don't the best way to great is within the confines of some type of structure.
@dloak19 жыл бұрын
true! I had that same problem until you laced me wit that knowledge.
@Craftmaster39 жыл бұрын
So now think of all the chord progressions you can use now! Get to work lol!!!

Can't stop watching these videos. If you don't mind I have some questions. I am a real beginner and right now I only have studio one artist I do plan on upgrading to producer and also buying some other vst but right now I only have available the vst studio one artist brings. Which are Impact Mojito Presence Sampleone. I use you use sampleone and impact. I would like to know when and for what I should use sampleone? and when and for what I should use impact? Also I don't see you or many people use mojito or presence Why is that? Thanks for your time
@Craftmaster37 жыл бұрын
dont use impact at all. I only did those videos because people asked for them.
