Quick review of the Craftool "High-Tech Leather Splitter" sold by Tandy. It's an excellent tool I use a lot. I also demonstrate how to sharpen it.

Im about to order one of these...also for cartridge loops....Cant figure out why it costs so much for such a simple thing. I hate using those little skivers. I always end up skiving my belt ends down paper thin or cuttn them in half all together. Lol

How can a leather worker not use a leather strop to finish honing that blade? It’s sacrilege! Love your holsters a lot.

I start with 800 grit wet dry sand paper and add a little 900 grit diamond compound and then I use 5000 grit diamond compound on a flat leather strop glued to a board 2 inches wide. A few strops with that and 3 inch wide leather is fairly easy to cut.

Great video, I do however recommend pulling the blade towards you. You will reach apex much faster while sharpening. Pull only

I understand that reasoning. For me, it's just easier to let the clamps holding the sandpaper to the stone hang off the edge of my table and push the blade way from me.

Love your videos! I have a couple of questions for you. Do you still use that splitter and do you have liability insurance in case someone has an accident and tries to sue the holster maker?
@RoadAgentLeather8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, I use that splitter frequently still. No, I don't sell my leatherwork. I primarily focus on my KZbin channel. Much more consistent income!

Running that bleed over to Stone doesn't seem it would help much
