I have the same craftsman unit that i use with a pole saw extension. Just put a new carb on it and was running fine for a full day trimming branches, then the next time i started it would not rev up to full power and woyld stall as soon as i released the throttle, start back up then same problem, no power when cutting, release throttle and it dies on me. Thought i needed another carb until i decided to try adjusting the carb and came across this video. I had already screwed down the idle screw all the way so next I turned the inside adjustment knob clockwise about a quarter to a half turn with the pacman tool and boy what a difference, revs uo high now with a lot of power, sounds like a beast and cuts like butter. I also turned the outside one counter clockwise a smidgen. It sounds like a dern chainsaw now. Im afraud i might have given it too much power for the machine to handle, i mean it vibrates almost painfully now when holding. Is that even possible, or a bad thing cause um thinking i may need to back off a little.

Thanks for sharing. I've got the very similar, but improved model w/ the extra bearing, & power start driver w/ the Funky 5 sided driver. But I'm having the exact same symptom/s as other guy's stalling w/ a mind of it's own whenever it wants to. Inspected the back crank case area & it all looks fine, bearing, gasket & such. Put a new carb on it months ago & she used it some. Screen on top of carb was fine. Tested few days ago & it ran okay. Put a new Champion plug in, stalls w/ a mind of it's own & NO amount of carb adjustment prevents it from stalling when it wants to. Any ideas? - thanks

Bad coil. Check the kill wire make sure its not grounding out. Maybee unplug it from the coil if its still dieing when you unplug the kill wire its a bad coil.

I just discovered your channel and appreciate your content and the simplicity of the fixes. My 25cc idles insanely high when I start it up and the weed eater head spins at top speed without even touching the throttle. Soon as I squeeze the throttle it dies out. I bought it on fb marketplace and the previous owner replace the gas tank and I’m thinking he may have tightened a few bolts too much. Any thoughts?

Had my carb adjusted at local small engine shop. It's under 30days old and will run with tiller attachment or pole saw but about 3 to 5 minutes in and it dies acting like it's getting no gas. Gas lines are open. Breather clean. Cleaned out carb put it back together . Got it to run and same thing keeps happening. Got any ideas ? I'm bout to just take it back. Havent even run a full gallon of gas through it yet. Thanks in advance

When it dies check spark. Sounds like bad coil. Also vent the tank by slightly opening your gas cap when it starts to die. Could be bad tank vent. Check fuel filter make sure it sits on the bottom of the tank and that it is attached to the proper fuel line. Lines could be backwards with a low tank of gas prime while looking in the tank. If you see foamy bubbles they are backwards

probably not a screen. but the exhaust side of the head does get clogged. remove the muffler inspect head scrape out carbon deposits with pic or small screwdriver.

Go for max then back it off just before it goes down. Then make sure it doesn't bog at idle going into throttle.

@smallengineguys ahh okay, it's a new carb and I'm using 50:1 premixed gas in it. I see everybody adjusting their new carburetors with AT LEAST 1¼ turn (low side) and AT LEAST the same or a little less on the HIGH side. My weedeater only works with about HALF turn(low side, 1/8 turn or bearly turned on the HIGH side...does sound normal brother? Kinda freaks me out, I don't wanna mess anything up.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

oil is in the gas so its getting to much fuel. adjust the carb. so there are 2 adjustment screws together you want the one closest to the air filter. at full throttle turn it either direction a little at a time. if it gets worse go the other way till you get that sweet spot. amzn.to/3zWTbpW

carb goes bad from lack of use but lets start from the beginning. you need 3 things for a gas motor to run. spark compression and fuel. fuel is 2 part air and gas. pull your muffler to look at the piston shiny is good lines means burnt up usually from lack of oil. spark testers are 10 bucks at any auto parts store. or this amzn.to/3xcaeB2 . spray a tiny bit of gas in the carb air filter side opening. keep pulling till it fires. if it fires and shuts off you have spark and compression but you need a carb.

@@smallengineguys Actually it does, and by load I think they mean to make sure the string is out to the line cutting blade. If you adjust the carb with no string/no load, then once you have string out it won't be adjusted correctly and lack power.

@@pheelix- that makes more sense than trying to cut grass and adjust. Although cutting grass is more load than simple line out which will cause same issue in theory. That means you may have to fine tune after use anyway resulting in same outcome.

Hi good morning. I just replaced the carb with a new one and it wont start. I remove the plug and it doesn't smell gass in the piston. Seems that is not pulling fuel. Bubble is full of gas and lower yellow gasket is there and hle is not plugged. Any suggestions? Thank you

Turn adjustment screw closest to the air filter counter clockwise a quarter turn try again. Repeat till starts. Most i go is a full turn and it usualy starts. If it takes more than 1 turn turn back to original position then turn adjustment screw closest to the engine 1/8 a turn counterclockwise try start then go back to adjustment closest to airfilter. Also is this brand new bought today gas? Are the fuel lines hooked up correctly?

years ago, the Democrats started passing laws to restrict performance on lawn equipment. That's why you no longer have an adjustment screw for the governor on a push mower. If your push mower is losing rpms, you have to either take it to a mechanic or buy a new one, or become a mechanic yourself and take the engine apart and bend a piece of metal to put more tension on the governor spring. it's also why on riding mowers, you now have a "Democrat permission button" you have to press every time you want to mow in reverse. It's not enough that you have to stop and shift a lever or change drive pedals. Democrats now require you to press a "mow in reverse permission button" which is their way of forcing you to ask for their permission every time you want to mow in reverse. You also get to pay extra for this great new feature that will kill the engine if you refuse to ask for their permission every time you want to mow in reverse. But don't worry, this will all come to an end soon since Democrats are now BANNING all gas powered lawn equipment so you will "choose" to pay twice as much for lower performance electric lawn equipment with more than twice the maintenance costs hahahahahahaha. Right now, people are finding out the hard way how much it costs to repair an electric mower after the blade hits a tree root hahahahahahahahaha.
