I know where the "scuffs" on the grate covering the cooling fan. I'm helping my grandson with a used GT6000 we recently got him, and it has identical wear. Those came with a plastic air ducting that attached to both sides of the hood... a rather cumbersome affair that stretches across the top of the motor, with not enough clearance from the top of the engine. With time, heat, bouncing around and such this ducting rubs on the spinning cooling grate, doing some melting/wear to both. On the GT6000 my grandson got, the original "hood ducting" had been mostly removed, to minimize the contact, but the rub marks are evident on what remains. I used 2 pieces of baling wire to firm up the "plastic under the hood" . Similar to the hood of my TroyBilt Super Bronco of the same age.

Whenever a model number starts in 917 on a craftsman, it’s a Husqvarna built which is not a bad thing

Cool . Some of those the cover bolts would come lose and get in the flywheel , and others run for ever .

thanks for the year decode info . the model number 917 prefix used to indicate made by a y p , but i believe husqvarna bought a y p and still manufactures them in orangeburg sc (same factory ?) using the 917 prefix . if you have a craftsman with 247 prefix , or possibly 219 , that indicates products made by m t d .

Thanks for the informative video, I just bought a 6000 from a friend, and I'm trying to get it to start. As soon as I turn on the key to the 1st position, there is a loud click.Then nothing starter turns over when jumped but not from the key. I can't find the relay that is clicking. Only paid 2 days of work. Hello from the high desert of MOJAVE in Phelan, California. Lenny 👋

I got the same one but it’s 2011 but for some reason it won’t run I even changed the drive belt do you have any idea what it it might be

Make sure the drive belt is routed correctly it still can be tight but not the correct(I’ve done this.) And if it is correct, make sure it is tight because sometimes the springs can loosen up Make sure all the pulleys are in good shape That’s what I would start with Good luck and thanks for watching
