As far as kiddos involved with non monogamous parents I do believe there is something to be said about the importance of stability in a child’s life during those fundamental years of growth and development. It plays a big part in their attachment style and ability to hold their own healthy relationships in the future! Not saying that parents should lose custody over this, I’m not really sure what the answer is honestly. But just something to think about and be aware of!

More breadcrumbs that I think Bekah will step away from her relationship with Gray. He doesn't seem to be comfortable with an open relationship. I'm really worried and it makes me sad.
@courtneyrains35312 жыл бұрын
I agree unfortunately.
@caitlinbishop66242 жыл бұрын
I know this may not have been said seriously, and may not be Bekah’s actual plan - but I cannot tell you how bad of an idea it would be to purposefully have kids with another man just to have another child. This happened to my husband. His mom had his brother with a boyfriend, and then they broke up. While they were broken up she said hey I want to have another kid like soon so he has a sibling, will you have a baby with me? And he said no, so she went & slept with her coworker. Later in life she got back together with and married her ex boyfriend & they had his sister. So he is the middle child but is from a different dad. He has had so many issues because of this, it’s really harmful for a child to grow up with that sort of relationship with his dad/step dad etc. He only found out recently that she did it on purpose, he grew up thinking she just had a one night stand gone wrong, and when he found out he was crushed & angry. It‘s literally choosing to complicate your child’s life & their relationship with their parents just because YOU want to have another kid. Babies can’t consent to being born, don’t complicate their life before it even begins.

I definitely appreciate the sobriety conversation. I have a friend who is struggling with substance abuse and it’s been tough for everyone involved. This individual is really having a crisis of mindset and inability to imagine themselves beyond drugs. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I'm so so sorry to hear that. Been in recovery for 6 years but hearing how it affected my family sounded like a nightmare. Sending so much love your way.

Thank you, kind stranger, and congratulations to you for making it beyond! That is something to be proud of and I’m sure your family feels so much peace seeing you this way. I haven’t lost all hope for this person, but they’re really playing with fire, as we wonder if a serious psychiatric mental illness has been triggered by the drug use.
@ashtonv17302 жыл бұрын
@@carrie5693 thank you so much. I know it can get very discouraging, I have seen extreme mental effects while using to one of my friends and that was so painful. I hate to hand out advice just because everyone is different and I truly can never be educated enough of on the matter but the most important thing I can suggest is educating yourself and the loved ones around this person. Read, read, read. That helped my sister so much- she was my biggest advocate. Another is (as long as it is not becoming a detriment to yourself) stay a constant distant support. I never held it against anyone who had to cut ties from me but man did it at times make me feel like if there was no one around then what was the point of trying to be sober.

I used to sell coke in high school, and the shit i saw it be cut with/or cut it with myself was so NASTY. Gasoline, random cleaning products, literally anything ppl could find. Now fentanyl, molly, even meth are mixed too unfortunately. Addiction sucks and I still think about doing it but know i can’t. be careful y’all!

Kayyy loved this pod episode. Coming on here (because I don’t have social media!!) to say this whole conversation around jealousy and monogamy would be highly informed by reading the book The State of Affairs by Esther Perel. Life 👏🏼 changing 👏🏼 for my views on long term monogamy, cheating, jealousy, passion, and commitment. Jess I feel like you need to tap into the wisdom and eloquence of Esther if you haven’t already. She reads her own audio book version so maybe just do that if you don’t have time to read. I think you’d both love it!

I love listening to this podcast and love when Craig comes on! But I will admit I wish this episode had some sort of trigger warning (I know the episode title is non-monogamous king but still..) bc the whole conversation of cheating is extremely triggering to me and what was a great episode turned into something I unfortunately had to turn off for my own peace
