I have always had tremendous respect for Craig's brand of humour (ESPECIALLY after his heart-to-heart monologue regarding 'punching up, not down' and alcohol history!). This is a fantastic interview/show. The fact that they've known each other for nearly 20 years and can shoot the shit back and forth about something they both love, and share funny stories about it, etc. just makes it so good. I especially love the technical aspects of the chat, too, as I took private lessons back in the 90's. Good stuff.

One of the very few celebrities I've ever met was Craig Ferguson at a double wide trailer airport FBO in either Gulfport or Biloxi, MS around June 2010 while I was there doing airwork for the BP oil spill cleanup. The FBO was pretty quiet at the time. His wife Megan was with him and from memory it was late evening and they were getting some sandwiches during either a fuel stop or on their way to the local casinos. All I could muster up to say to him was a "i like your work" to which he responded with a Thanks, lol. Might have been part of that same Bahama's fuel cell light trip that was referenced near the start of this podcast. Only later did I realize he was more than just a celebrity chartering a plane and in fact had a pilot's license at the time. Seems like an awesome person.

I think back to when I first learnt to fly and realized that this was what helped me through the loss of my Mother. I would come down to earth and some how the grief was at bay. Learning to fly kept my mind on task and allowed me time to grieve healthily. It is a great way to allow you to prioritize what is important in life and plan forward. Thank You for this interview.

This is amazing. Great interview! I've always loved Craig on the show and it's awsome to see this side of him. It's so hard to picture how comedians are off stage. One thing is true among all of the most successful comedians. They all are very intellectual and intelligent. Not just goofballs they got lucky. Wish I could fly with him and just talk pilot shit.

I loved his late night show and always remembered when he mentioned what I now understand was his first XC solo. I’ve wondered what was going on with that since. Now that I’m getting my PPL I understand what he was talking about and the feeling he was expressing the little he talked about flying on the show.

Two friends sharing the crack - excellent vid. Had the joy of flying an army para display team all over Scotland for three years. Fantastic flying; the dew point's on a yo-yo & the copious amounts of IMC have a hard nutty center - all around! But on a clear day, you'll see 'Canada Lite by Disney', yet far, far better - they can't show the hordes of feral haggis sweeping across the Glensides, nor the joy of watching from above as Nessie's diet blows a row of bubbles along the Loch. Happy days : )

I always let a nervous passenger fly the plane once we were stabilized at altitude. Everyone, as in EVERYONE relaxed after a few min. They found out its not so difficult to fly a plane (me as a commercial pilot) I just said I was paid to know what to do if something went wrong....a monkey can fly a plane (except for take off and landing).

I’ve been a pilot 48 years, on my 1sr solo the instructor said… son… the plane will be 80kg lighter and it will climb quicker so things will happen faster than usual.. it was a Cherokee 140 and that was great advice from my instructor

What's with Craig's accent these days? Is he faking American twinges to make himself more easily understood, or is that they way he speaks now ro avoid having to have subtitles? He needs to spend a week in Cumbernauld to ground himself.

It isn't uncommon to start picking up at least some of an accent when you've been in a new place for a while. I used to cover all 48 "southern states" ( I grew up in Alaska, our references are a bit different!) in Kenworth and often found my speech picking up some of a local accent, especially in the real southern states, after I'd been there a few times.

Funnily enough, from a Scottish POV, Craig's natural accent wouldn't be considered pretty rough. I can understand why he had to temper it to become successful in the USA. But it just sounds weird now. A, sort of, 90/10 mix. He spent his early years over in NYC.
