Craig is one in a million. He was one of my teachers at MI in 93-94. He was my favorite teacher there. I loved em all but Craig was different. I had a private lesson at his place after school. When I sat down he asked me to play something so he can get a feel for where I am as a guitarist. ( I sucked ) I played a song I had put together long before this. His eyes lit up as I was playing. After I finished he said you wrote that? I said yeah. He said one section is like something he's been looking for for one of his songs. ( it was in B phrygian) he asked if he could do something based off of that for one of his songs. He said his would be different but based off of that riff. I didn't know what to say. I think, hell yeah came out. He could have easily just done so with no problem. His was different. The fact that he got excited and was so nice to ask my permission first really showed me what an exceptional human being he really was. I bought his next album/CD and heard what he made. It was different but I picked it out as soon as I heard it. It was on Insufficient Therapy or the next CD he did. He did not have to ask my permission. His riff was a good bit different but he was just such a real and respectful person, he felt he had to ask. What a guy and what a monster player. Also, he wanted to play my guitar. It was made (the body) by a classmate there, Doug and had a Carvin Koa neck on it. SD heavy metal livewire pup in the bridge.he thought EMG By looking at it.To this day that guitar has never sung like it did that day in his hands, thru his rig. Amazing player and person. His class at school was only for 1 phase. (1/4) year. I attended for 3 phases because he had so much fantastic info . Can't say enough good things about this man.

since about 1983, I have been trying to put to words what Ronnie was/is to the rock community. Although I never met the man, I had my idea of what he was like in real life and how he was as a person. I have always been a HUGE fan and Craig put all of my ideas to words right here and put a stamp on the idea I had for Ronnie James Dio. Isn't it weird how people that have never met can have the exact same thoughts about a man that one had never met and the other lived the life that the first only dreamed of.

Goldy was a grade above me at Patrick Henry High in San Diego. I've never forgotten the outdoor pep rally his band played there. Let's see if I can recall the set list. Okay, I got it. They played Europa (perfectly), Blue Collar Man, Surrender, & Man On The Silver Mountain. Later I'd catch his band playing local gigs around town. I was fascinated by how good he was. And he was just a teen in the late 70's. I remember his band covered "What Is and What Should Never Be" at some roller skating arena in Santee. Just perfectly. Note-for-note for sure. And I'm a guitarist. So, I know the difference.

I was all over the San Diego music scene back then. I wonder if you remember the name, Fred Raskin. He was a guitarist who played a lot of the weekend parties in El Cajon in the late 70's & early 80's - perfecting covering Blackmoore's guitar work. Super nice guy as well. Always wondered what became of him. Thank you so much for the reply. Rock on!

Hey Craig, if you ever see this comment, I have to tell you that you are killer guitarist I grew up on. Dream Evil was a great album! The first time I heard you was in Autograph though. I had bought Dream Evil at the time not knowing it was you until I opened up the cassette to find out. The first time I heard All the Fools Sailed Away, I was hooked! Thanks for being a part of my teen years and still around today. You seem like a very cool guy.

"He sang to the downtrodden and black sheep of the earth" "He would always pick the least, and make them the most." I swear I teared up. I never heard Ronnie summed up so well. No wonder they were so brilliant together!

Amazing that Craig is still talking to people in the comments is cool. For the most part, the ones in the video dont reply at all. The fact that he does is cool. That he is still doing it after so many years, very cool!

Saw RJD in Springfield Or. 2000. less than a hundred people at a little bar called the Hollywood Taxi. It was his Magica tour, but it doesn’t seem to be listed or on the tour shirts. My best friend would frequent the local strip club and said one of the ladies and her husband owned a rock club/bar in Springfield and that Dio owed her and her husband a favor and that he was going to do a show there after his Portland show. Yeah, right! But we bought tickets anyways. HOLY CRAP! The rumors were true and their he was. Less than ten feet away. The whole band😱 Me and my homie just kept looking back and forth in disbelief at what we were witnessing. The legend himself within arms reach😱 By far the best show of my life. An intimate evening with Ronnie James Dio💯🔥 UNBELIEVABLE! And absolutely 💯 true. I swear 🙏

I was sitting on a bus one day in 80s and a friend who dressed as a classic headbanger saw me and gave me a cassette tape. It was Dio’s Intermission with image of Dio slaying Dragon on front. That began an education in Dio for me and my friends and I were very much into the band then. As Craig said I too loved the poetic nature of the lyrics and it actually got me into poetry for a time. Couldn’t believe the depth n power to his voice and as teenagers - used to walk bush trails to get to parties in our area with the conversation turning to Dio n hard rock as we walked 🤘

I have been a fan of Goldy's playing for my entire life. But I don't think that I have ever heard him talk. The guy is absolutely brilliant. It is obvious from his playing that he is smart...but after watching/listening to him give a verbal interview, it all makes sense. The dude isn't a 'normal guitar player'.

Thank you Michael!! That's such a very cool thing to say!! Plus, as they say...."Normal" is just a setting on the dryer!! It's very surreal to read such nice things as I'm just a fan that got into the band!! But thank you!!

CRAZY TIMES😥☠️ My friend David Rich murdered Eric furgeson while I was at this concert... ill never forget that, i came home to kaos😮..david shot him in the head and put a trash bag over his head to suffocate and finish him off after he was still alive from several gunshots then cut his guts out and sewed a centerblock inside his torso so his body wouldnt float in the pond in rosehill NC. crazy... David eventually was caught because of blood dripping out of the trunk of the car after the fact, and was sentenced to life without parole but killed another convict while in the pin ,and was executed by lethal injection...crazy times. 😇 thankyou Jesus, im still alive and well after all those years of darkness, drugs, and mayhem. but this concert ...the music, the lights, the theatrics were mind blowing wow.😢😎☠️😇❤
