How anyone can dislike this song, a song about how he deals with his son's loss, is beyond my comprehension. Beautiful tribute to his son.

I watched my dad as a child do exactly all the actions Craig Morgan sang about. When I lost my brother it completely broke him. And 12 years later he still sits on the front porch for a few hours everyday. When I asked him about it he just replied, “I’d happily relive this pain and grief everyday as long as you and your siblings never know what it’s like to bury your own child.”

I meet Craig in his family in January before for the accident. I was the security/escort for them at a football halftime performance. His son was very respectful. Craig stopped and talked to every first responder that he saw. Jerry said "You know its gonna take us forever to get there. He has to stop and say thank you to them." I told him I had all the time he needed. Jerry talked about his dad and was proud of him.

@@100fredkrueger I 100% agree. Especially since it went #75 to #1 on all genres on iTunes &other music sites in 1 day. He couldnt finish the song 1st time singing it live. I first seen on Grand Ole Opry 2nd time singing it and never opened his eyes. But when he does it live on kelly clarkson show I didn't think he was going to get the last of the song out. Started crying. That's the hardest 1 to watch. Sad that it took this for his record label decided they wanted to sign him again. They should've never drop him. I've got all albums now they r all here on KZbin. Most of his greatest songs were never released. The Ballad of Mr. Jenkins is so sad but an incredible song. Should listen to all there are so many that are relatable & that he went through which makes him the amazing writer that he is. This song he wrote in 4 hours. I hope every one has a blessed day. 🤝☝️🤲🙏🥁

Dear Mr. Morgan My name is Daniel a couple years ago my 17 year old son my hero my life fell off a 200 ft cliff near a dam in Kentucky ... i swore my spirit and my body separated at that moment i called and called his name but he didn't answer and i couldn't see him i yelled for God in tears i pleaded plz Lord let me hear his voice... suddenly i heard a faint voice say "God take away the pain" i praised God in that moment and then called 911 in 4 minutes the EMS was there and they looked over the side of the cliff and looked at me and said "we cant rappel down that" all i could think was you have to you have to get my son suddenly 2 boats were on the water and attempting to rescue him the sheriff sent me to the other side of the damn to the boat ramp telling me " sir your boy will be taken to that boat ramp you need to be there when he is brought to the ramp" i got in my truck and as i got on the damn and i looked back i stopped my truck and i cried and cried because i had seen where he had landed in some giant boulders at the waters edge i wondered if anyone could survive that fall i told myself i didn't think anyone could i was beating on the steering wheel scared and the overwhelming knowing rushed over me that this may be my last day on earth if they bring me my son and he didn't survive i already knew i then wouldn't either. I got to the boat ramp and as i parked at the doc there were at least 30 first responders on the doc there were so many they had to get some of them off the floating doc it was about 7 mins b4 the boats showed up with my son i couldn't tell if he was alive or not suddenly the sheriff came and got me and said "come see your boy sir" i got to the stretcher they had him on i could tell he was ALIVE i was in tears i caressed his hair and i said i love you son he replied i love you dad" i knew then i still had my son i didn't know if he was going to be paralyzed or had brain damage or what because he wasn't moving the lower part of his body and his head was injured and bleeding they placed him in the ambulance and drove him to the upper part of the parking lot where a helicopter was waiting to fly him to the hospital they once again allowed me to see him touch him and then they loaded him on the chopper and they took him away. I had no idea where he went nor any idea on how to get there , the sheriff gave me instructions and i was gone. i reached a small town named liberty and realized i had very little fuel and the hospital was 90 mins away then i realized that i had no money no credit cards nothing you see I'm disabled and my son carried my money and cards bc he went into the stores for me .. i went in and basically begged the young couple behind the counter for some fuel to get to my son the young man said "I'm sorry no its against policy" the young lady said " i will help you but if you don't pay it back it comes outta my check" i swore id pay her back and i gave her my drivers lisc as assurance. i filled the tank and 70 mins later got to the hospital where they told me my boy was broken up pretty bad broken back in 2 places shattered leg broken shoulder blades broken arms skull split open in 2 places internal bleeding and damaged liver and more i sat at his side and i prayed and prayed and i cried and cried the doctors came in and said he will need multiple back surgeries and went on with a list of things he would have to come thru to survive with any kind of quality of life. as we sat in that hospital for weeks my son trying to learn to stand and walk and be whole again he turned to me and said " Dad God gave me another chance what do I do with it?" i said son " the best you can because son some fathers don't get their sons back until they go home to see them" we cried and then I found this song and i cry each time i hear you sing this song and i know if not for the grace of our Lord God i too would be living your song.... i am so so deeply and sincerely sorry that you have lost Jerry your precious boy i have no words that could make it better but each morning when i wake i play and sing your song because its my reminder that i too could be as God yourself and my own father whom all have lost a son. i don't deserve to have been spared that unimageable pain but i play your song so i don't ever ever forget. thank you from the deepest parts of my being for your hurt your faith and your song. Sincerely Daniel.

After almost 5 years, I can talk about this without immediately breaking down. Apparently my Son thought he couldn't go on any longer and took his own life. I first heard this song and just broke down in tears. I listened to it here and there and every time I would lose it. I am finally to a point where I can listen without breaking down straight out, I still get misty eyed, but this has helped me to cope along the way. Thank you Craig for such a beautiful and inspiring song. I feel it.

Jesse I lost my son in 1999. Same way. Over a girl. Although the sheriff and the medics said it appeared he went farther than he intended it to go....he is still gone. I was in denial for 10 yrs. I have always love Craig Morgan and this song....but I just realized this week that it was about his son. My son always gave me redbirds as a tribute to my dad. Today I have many visits from redbirds just when I need them. I know I will see him again. Prayers to you

She still crys when his name is brought up. I will always miss mine, but I thank God for putting him in the path of a praying man. @@GigaMonke7 I am so. so sorry for your losses. I can only share what God has done for me and in His word and through prayer my heart heals. That doesn't mean the loss is feeling of gone; it just means, for me I can function, I can laugh, we enjoy reminiscing and more than anything we KNOW we will be together again in heaven. Losing 2 children is unimaginable. We celebrate his life. He was a great hugger, I miss that. :) You are here. You are able to share your story. WE CAN DO THIS. Another parent who has lost a child or the unimaginable loss of 2 children will look to a person like you and me for support and guidance on how we did it, you are doing it. I prayed for you. The thing is, we will never meet however we are connected forever. A mother who had lost her son told me after we lost our son "welcome to the club no one wants to be in but connects us forever". I just lost my son this past August 18, 2023. He was 39 and it was sudden. Today, I'm watching a Fall Flashback on the Kelly Clarkson Show, and Craig Morgan is performing this song. I really feel this happened for a reason. I can relate to this song's lyrics. What he is singing about is what I'm feeling, what my husband is feeling. I feel my son with me even though I can't see him, but someday it will be me, my Father, my son and the Holy Ghost. Thank you for sharing Craig Morgan, I really needed to hear this song❤️

Our grandparents on both sides died away before we were born so our momma was the first one we knew to die and the pain we felt was absolutely nothing to what we ever felt before.... today October 21st would of been her 78th birthday. We were only 31 when we lost her and it was absolutely gut wrenching to lose her.... not a minute day week month year go by where I don't miss her and wish she was still here with us..... momma I love you so very much

Father, be with my brother Craig. Give him a peace that surpasses all understanding while you weave the thread of your purpose into the story of his life. "Why love if losing hurts so much? I have no answers anymore, only the life Ive lived. Twice in that life Ive been given the choice; as a boy, and as a man. The boy chose safety while the man chooses suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness. Thats the deal." C.S. Lewis

CS Lewis wrote the following: To love it all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it careful round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it safe in the coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless,airless- it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The only place outside heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers of love … Is hell.

The three Persons in the Trinity refers to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Here, the Father refers to God the Father. The Son refers to the beloved Son of God, God incarnate - Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is formless and everywhere. They are the three Persons in the Trinity. Trinity is the unity of essence, form, and function. Essence is the Holy Spirit. Function is the function of essence - that is, creating all things. Function refers to the Father. Form is the manifestation of the function of essence, and refers to all things in the world. Among the manifestations of the function of essence, the most special and sinless manifestation is God incarnate - the Son. --Light of Wisdom Church《The Trinity |God from God, Light from Light|Reincarnation | I Am the way, the truth and the life 08》

Thank you for this song. God bless you. I have never lost my faith in Christ through everything that I have gone through. When I was a child, I was molested many times. I saw Jesus and knew that He would never leave me. I was abused as a young adult and later on, even as recent, especially emotionally. I lost my Grandfather, who raised me as his own, in January 2006. Then I lost my middle Son, in August 2006, 2 weeks after his forever 18th birthday, in a tragic car accident. Ten years later I lost my oldest Son, forever 29, also to a tragic car accident. He was a 100% Disabled Afghanistan Army Veteran and left behind my two beautiful Granddaughters. Time does not change anything, it still hurts the same. My grief will remain until we are reunited. But I still carry on, struggling to just feel anything sometimes. I remember the happiest moments. I love and am thankful for my only living child (my youngest), my Daughter, my Son-in-law and my Grandchildren. My Daughter and Son-in-law are raising my Son's two girls, as he requested several years in advance if anything should happen to him. They also have a child, my sweet handsome Grandson. If it wasn't for the grace of God, and my family, I don't know how I would survive. I truly trust and know that the Lord knows what He is doing. He has a plan and I will follow. Amen. 🙏✝️🕊💜👼🛐✨️

What if God was pushing you, through this song, to get out from behind your phone or computer and go and reach out and pray and share with people in person? Why expect them to come to you? Put into practice what you preach.

I'm a mom, I had 4 sons, I love them with all my heart. This song hit me hard, my first son age 36 died, 4 years later I lost another son age 44, one year later my husband of 43 years died. I still have 2 sons that I love with all my heart. This song hit my heart, I don't believe the pain ever goes away, they are with me all the time, I talked to them everyday. My heart n soul will never be whole until we meet in heaven.

I've never felt the pain from a singer to the degree I feel his pain in this video. The balls it took to make this video and to even sing this song more than once is amazing.

There is now a word for a Bereaved parent...we are called Vilomah....it means out of the natural order. Our kids aren't supposed to go before us!!!

Thank you, Mr. Morgan for the gift of this song. I lost a sixteen year old brother in 1975 in a motorcycle accident. I watched my parents go through many of the things that you describe in the song over the years. Dad was "completely healed" in 2013 and mom is now 84 years old. I played this video for her about a month ago and when it was over she looked at me with a tear in her eye and said "It's Beautiful". I could tell that it gave her some peace. Thanks again for saying what many people needed to hear.

We need this song to be a number one hit . This song is one of the best things I’ve heard on country radio in a long time . A song of meaning and purpose. This is probably a hard subject for him to sing about and it probably means the world to him knowing his fans support him and his family . God bless Craig Morgan .

Military hero, Singer/ Songwriter took his tragedy, losing his son and it has become a healing for so many. We've lost people we love but to lose a child... It also sends a message... Trust in God, we'll all be together again if we give our lives to Him. People, tell those you love that you love them because none of us are promised tomorrow.

Thank you Mr. Craig Morgan, unfortunately I know the pain of losing a child, my dad lost a son James, he was 18 (we had the same father) as did my mother (Jerry was 43, we had the same mother) and I thank God for his mercy, my mom could not have watched me go through the agony of losing my child, it would have been to much for her. My "sun" was 36 years old and he was still my "sun" and my child, it has been a little more than a year and I miss him everyday.

I lost my 24 year old son in a car accident days before Thanksgiving last year. "I won't completely heal until I go home" - thank you Craig - a grieving parent can see themselves in your eyes. No parent should have to bury their child. I look forward to the day I don't wake up and am reunited with my son again.

Oh my. I have like your music but hasn’t realized your lost with this song. I married late in life with the understanding there might not be children. 6 years later I was blessed with a son when I was 35. Another 4 years later another was on the way and 4 weeks early I was given my Angel boy. 2 years later I was divorced. They are what have gotten me through my ups and downs. Thank you for sharing your strength

Brother, This pain is unimaginable. Have you read the comments. I doubt you'll ever see this but when this happens people have nothing to hold on to. Knowing that someone knew where to find hope and is healing gives them that. God heals but at first even He seems like He's a million miles away. Thank you for the reminder to many. I have no doubt that lives were saved because you shared your pain.
