Having been formally kicked out of a company I started, I struggled with this for several months. Forgiveness is so CRITICALLY important. And just like Lisa says, it is not necessarily for the benefit of the offending party, especially if that party does not recognize that they have offended you. Forgiveness is primarily for the one offering it. Excellent topic and fantastic show!

Forgiveness is central to the Gospel and the effectiveness of the church. This is the first time that I have heard a simple and direct, preemptive response to offenses made behind my back or made insensitively by someone without realizing they hurt me. You have given a option to simply ignoring these things. Thanks to you both. You made a difference. This is going out to my leadership team right now

There is no question that forgiveness is critically important. At the same time, there is a difference between forgiveness and trust. Many people think that if you have truly forgiven them, they automatically deserve to be trusted again. But when trust is broken, it is not immediately restored.

I really like this idea that you are expressing, BUT, WHERE does Personal responsibility for making personal choices, as the leader, is presented? How arrogant we are when we need to “agendize” FORGIVENESS? We have erasers on pencils BECAUSE PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. ALL PEOPLE. “CANCEL CULTURE” HAS BROUGHT THIS “UNMERCIFUL ATTITUDE” TO OUR CULTURE. LEADERS ARE ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD DISCERNERS OF OTHERS THEY LEAD. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” Just think about how often the Lord Jesus was merciful toward his disciples, while He walked through 3 years of life together, and HE WAS/IS THE “KING OF GLORY!” If you don’t “go to that person” and tell them HOW they have offended/hurt you, they may NEVER KNOW WHAT THEY DID, AND THEY MAY DO IT AGAIN TO SOMEONE ELSE. Jesus said, “Go “in private” to a brother or sister who has offended you”. Regaining trust, and restoring relationships DOES NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT HONESTY FIRST. This is a “GOD THOUGHT”. BEFORE HE FORGIVES, HE REQUIRES “REPENTANCE” which means an admission and recognition of OUR guilt. “It is THE TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE.” Can you just answer an email with, “i need to think about this, and then i will get back to you.” Give a date if possible. BUT DON’T IGNORE AN EMAIL THAT NEEDS A RESPONSE SOON. SAY ANYTHING THAT gives someone a response of “acknowledgment”, that “I hear you”. Always remember, that the Lord Jesus, continued to look at the “ONE WHO JUDGES JUSTLY.” “Vengeance is MINE, and I will repay”, says the Lord. He will make the wrong things right, at some point, some day. You do not have to, and besides, He KNOWS ALL THE FACTS, and can “right” a person, better and more effectively than you can, SO TRUST HIM, WHEN THE “ARROWS COME TO YOU BY DAY, AND WHEN YOU FEAR THE TERROR OF THE NIGHT.” PSALM 91:5 1 Peter 2:21-23
