I feel your picture is of a CCC Camp- Civilian Conservation Camp. The online directory says there are 3 camps in the area of Lake Arbutus. These camps employed both WW! Veterans and youth that that were criminals but, able to go to the camp instead of jail. This programs was for veterans who could not find employment after the end of the are. The program ran to about 1940. Thanks.

I am currently giving it a try to make it on my own as a picker, and your KZbins are priceless. You must really love helping people out, and I will stay up on everything you put on. Today, I have listed my first item which I learned to watch for from you. It is a Platt TSA004 instrument protective travel tote case. The garage seller wanted $30 for it, and I bought it for $25. It is in near perfect condition. I have listed it on eBay for $250, and I expect it to either sell at that price, or I will see how many watchers it generates to decide if I will auction it off on a Sunday evening, starting at 1cent as you have trained me to do. Peace out brother, you are the greatest.

What is really great to me living here in Germany is the location shooting, real people living in the USA. Do people really sell stuff out of the back of their homes? Facinating. Much more likely to find interesting stuff. Maybe you could do a video about those sales. Greetings to you and your family from a guy in Germany. Bye Bye.

I've always had a good eye for a value, so its helping me out a lot with the picking. I learn more and more everyday by going out picking and watching your videos. So, thanks a lot brother. In my experience, the more affluent the neighborhood/seller, the more likely they are to be selling off higher quality items for dirt cheap. People with money don't tend to care as much about squeezing every last dollar out of their used items as middle and lower class sellers, who may actually need the money. Not only that, but their "junk" is often top shelf stuff.
@margaretscott76415 жыл бұрын
The picture from 1934 is probably a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp, a public work relief program started by President Roosevelt during the Great Depression. They built dams, roads, replanted burned forests and other public works all over the country and paid (mostly men as far as I know) wages when there were no jobs so they could feed their families. But you probably know that by now. Thanks for your great videos, I love your enthusiasm for the business.

Thanks Craigslist Hunter for a great video. I felt like you today. I bought a Vintage Harp from S America for $100 and sold it for $400 and a Vintage Saddle for $15 and sold it for $100 on Craigslist within hours today. I also bought for $12 total a never used Vintage Disston D-23 Rip Saw and a 8 Point Crosscut Saw and a Technics SL-1500 Turntable that I haven't posted yet. Getting items with no competition is exciting. From Global Voodoo's teachings I bought SNES Donkey Kong 1, 2 & 3 for $17 and sold the lot for $75 in 2 hours today. Love that I found you and have subscribed. I've been selling Vintage Home Decor on Etsy for about 4 years now - picking is our passion. Etsy has been suppressing sales lately and I find it very frustrating since we are very active in our shop. I'd say we have moderate success, but ready to kick it up to achieve maximum success reselling. I do have an Ebay store but not very active there and we are launching our own website this week. In this video I notice that you pass up so much of what we buy. Watching you, Alabama Pickers, and Rockstar to learn how to max out sales. Thanks for sharing!

Some family kept that WWII picture for generations, kept care of it, passed it down, told stories about it, then, one day, JR sold it for the price of a burger combo to some guy who's going to make $500 off it.

douglas787 that’s okay, because the person who pays $500 for it will be the one who actually appreciates it and tries to hunt for the story behind it.

That photograph is probably of a CCC camp. From Wikipedia: "The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary government work relief program that ran from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men ages 18-25 and eventually expanded to ages 17-28." Since you have the camp name, you should be able to find more info on it online. There is an avid group of collectors for any CCC items. Great Find!!!

Newlyweds! My parents were married for 71 years. When you said 25 years, I remember how my mother used to act like a 25 year marriage or even 35 was nothing. I remember when Daddy died, an aunt called to try to console Mama and after the call, my mother was ranting, "She said she knew how I felt! She doesn't know how I feel! They were only married for 60 years!" (ONLY 60 years.) My mother died within 3 months of my precious Daddy. I'm surprised she lasted that long. They were always together. They were both in their 90's. Well, that has nothing to do with picking, but when someone says they've been married for what I think is a nice chunk of time, I remember my mother saying "They were only married for 60 years!" I was married for 4 years, but it took me 2 husbands to do that. I didn't get the long marriage gene.

Great video as always Pete, and some excellent finds. As you've said before, the key is having creativity and thinking outside the box, which you do. But do you think those $10 or so scores (like the Daimo) are worth it? Yeah, you are already there, but later, you or your employees will need to spend time listing and shipping the stuff. So personally I think it's better to focus on the really good stuff (which you find a lot because of your excellent hustle) and leave the rest behind.
@CraigslistHunter9 жыл бұрын
