Pete I suggest to put the extra glass shelves in the very bottom of the cabinet it will help keep it being top-heavy mainly and also protect the extra glass case they are forgotten about and you go to move it at a later date in the far future I ended up with one like this way back in a estate sale it sit in one spot so long covered in dust with extra shelves on top nobody realized we went to move they almost fell off on top of our heads that's when I learned to store the extra shells in the very back of the inside just a helpful hint from one seller to another

Hi there! I have been missing your videos, glad you're back! I have been making some jewelry 'treasure boxes' with some vintage and costume jewelry... I made my Grandma a big one and her friends at her senior center loved it so I am making some for them well! So bought some lots of random jewelry. Anyway, I have a little bag of jingle bells to send you for your kitty in the shop, I have been collecting them in a little bag for you, that way when Ruby chews one off you have extras! I also have found some men's watches in the lots that I will add to your package and hopefully you can sell them for some decent money! Love from Tulsa, OK!

Pete, just so you know in case you've never encountered it on band instruments before, MOST of the time when a part on an instrument is marked "sterling" or "sterling silver" that usually means that part is SOLID sterling, not plated. The mouthpiece will be silver-plated, which is the norm for good quality mouthpieces. The Capital Edition was a nicer student level trumpet than Jupiter's regular student model. I've worked on a few of those. I'm an instrument repair tech, with almost 30 years in the field now. The Buffet clarinet is a really good clarinet, you should do OK with ANY of their wood clarinet models. I would start at 300 or 350 on the Jupiter trumpet, if I remember right, it was somewhere between 800 and 1000 dollars new. It's not as desirable as the Buffet clarinet because the Buffet is an intermediate to pro-quality clarinet, where the trumpet is a student level, but it IS is very nice shape.

I seal all the edges of the boxes with tape, so the box itself becomes a giant bubble. However, I do not trust bubble wrap and peanuts that much. They do allow for movement. I prefer the solid white foam, or something else that can absorb shock but is solid and doesn't allow any movement whatsoever. I once had to ship a complete set of fine china. other than a little bubble between the various pieces, I used that stretch wrap to wrap it all very thightly, cup handles to the inside, then fitted corrugated cardboar around it. Then I added another box with the hard white foam, then one with peanuts between the boxes. It went all the way to California with no damage by UPS

Yeah USPS is in a mess right now, got a Priority box sent out Aug 3rd that is still somewhere in transit. Went from PA to TN but somehow showed up one state south in Mississippi on the 5th then said en route to designation or something on 7th, nothing after that just arriving late. I had to put a request in Thurs 13th even though the buyer didn't say anything & it magically shows as arriving in TN on the 14th. So now I wait to see if it actually gets delivered next week, I've had all my other Priority items delivered within reasonable time. I think it might have been just sitting there the whole time on a trailer in TN & my request made them go look for it to process it for next location, now I wonder if I didn't say anything would it still be sitting there.

You might consider using Large Bubble bubblewrap from U-Haul for wrapping certain items. I sell on eBay too and I go thru this large bubblewrap on sales like fish have water go thru their gills. Peanuts are OK but stuff can still move up/down/sideways while in transit if you're relying on peanuts alone as filler between item shipped and carton walls. In fact for the markup you have re sale you could use a furniture pad to envelope the clarinet case, then lay that inside the shipping carton, layer with packing paper or peanuts to fill out the carton. The furniture pad may increase volume used in carton as well as shipping weight but the cloth will add layering to the musical instrument thus cushioning the ride to California plus handling. (Used to be HHG mover back in the day. Did a lot of packing also......which has paid off in spades shipping eBay sales).

when you look at a clarinet, check the pads, the seals that meet with the holes when you let the keys back down. Whether or not it needs repadded greatly effects the price, because it's expensive if you have to pay to have it done. The horns, other than for dents and dings, not too much to check, just make sure the tuning parts are movable, even if stiff they still need to be able to move. That's the bent pieces that slide a little on a trumpet. They don't move at all, the value goes in the toilet.

It’s a cleaning cloth. Cleans the spit and moisture out of the clarinet before you put it away. They are weighted so they go through the barrel.

Everyone had a few of those game informers. The one with Solid Snake on the cover was pretty cool though. Takes me back. ;-)

You May have this info already but I’m a retired band director and professional clarinetist. The Buffet clarinet is the instrument most symphony players play both here and abroad. If it is a model R-13 that is the pro model that symphony players like. There should be a serial number on the back of the long pieces. You can go to the Buffet website and look that up to know the exact model and date of manufacture. You also want to check out the mouthpiece. Most players do not use the stock mouthpiece so it could have a mouthpiece worth almost as much as the instrument itself. It would be best if you have someone who can play it and see what the condition of the pads is like. If a serious player buys it they will want that in good shape. A professional overhaul would cost between $400 and $700 depending on the level of repair needed. A new R13 today costs about $4000. This is partly due to the wood it is made from called grenadilla has become scarce due to destructions of forests in South America where it grows and it is a very slow growing tree. If it plays well I’d put it up for about $900. Hope this helps

It all depends on the person handling your package. It doesn't matter if you use USPS, Fedex or UPS. When it gets busy packages get thrown around more. With all the delays happening now days I try to ship more things insured. Nothings been lost so far. But 4 packages have taken 15 to 25 days to complete delivery over the past few months. I also agree with everyone else. You need to wear a helmet !!

Usps has been horrible since covid-19. Months of delay some things are just set as lost. Even with the delays from FedEx and UPS I won't use usps now if I don't have too.
