The heater box with the 302 swaps most people use heat gun and deform the plastic for extra clearance.

yup. I may end up doing a little bit of this just to give some actual clearance with the current configuration.

What steering linkage kit did u use? I’m fixing to do a 5.3 swap with 4l80. If I could get actual p/n’s that would be great if u have em. Thanks!
@PNW_Car_Mods9 ай бұрын
Not a kit at all. All bought as individual parts. Just go on Amazon and search 3/4 DD steering joint and 3/4 inch DD steering shaft and all of it will come up. Same applies for ebay. Remember if swapping onto a later model Ford rack that is a special joint adapter known as a Ford Triangle to 3/4 DD.

Did you do the steering shaft modification? I see it runs down out of the way of the headers.
@PNW_Car_Mods10 ай бұрын
Yes. Wanted the engine shoved over to the drivers side as far as possible to keep the AC box on the passenger side. Looks like its all gonna fit! Today we got the engine and trans bolted in permanent!

now did that 4l60 fit without any cutting of the floor for the torque convertor
@PNW_Car_Mods4 ай бұрын
No cutting but you do have to fold over the pinch seam where the firewall meets the transmission tunnel.

Man you guys are sure lucky you can put different Motors like that in your truck and we can't in California because of the smog rules
@PNW_Car_Mods10 ай бұрын
We don't have any smog checks here anymore. We used to but it all got canceled about 3 years ago. Contract ran out and was costing the state too much money. That being said we could still have engine swaps as long as it passed the OBDII checks.

What headers are you using ???
@PNW_Car_Mods7 ай бұрын
They are Speed Engineering S10 LS swap specific headers. They give tons of steering shaft clearance but in a Ranger the drivers side collector points straight at the lower control arm mount on the crossmember. This takes a Radical pie cut collector to get it pointing rearwards instead of downwards. The mid pipe in this thing is cool as hell but some might call it hackery lol. It's a lot of butt welded pie cuts using MIG. Very tight. I will be making a video of the whole exhaust system once I get the tailpipes done this weekend.

Speed Engineering S10 headers with V band collectors. They are less than Ideal on the drivers side but we made it work. If I were independently wealthy I would absolutely have someone make some custom 1 7/8s longtubes for it.

@PNW_Car_Mods5 ай бұрын
@@Tougericer This truck we bought from someone who had blown their head gasket as well. Picked the truck up CHEAP. I would not recommend a stock untouched or junkyard 4L60E but one that has been gone through and upgraded by someone that knows what they are doing will last for quite a while if you don't abuse it. If I were building it to take to the track I would stick with a turbo 350/400 or maybe even a built powerglide. The way we use this truck I have no regrets on the 4l60e. It is nice to be able to fly down the freeway at 75mph.
