No, just someone who never really had to deal with that, sir.You're just more familiar with Apple's operating system than with something that's... not really a thing with digital video (or photography, from which I know my ISO).
@KillingTheMotivation6 жыл бұрын
It's even worse when you type iOS as in the operating system rather than as optical image stabilisation. One is far closer than the other haha
@iAmTheSquidThing6 жыл бұрын
It's pretty weird that we even call it _ISO,_ when that just means _International Standards Organisation_ and could just as easily refer to any other international standard. It used to be called _film speed_ but that's really confusing since there's also frame rate and shutter speed, Really it ought to be called _sensitivity_ or _gain._

Also the "daytime" and "nighttime" mode is just activating and deactivating an orange filter, 'cause the film stock usually is tungsten balanced. If you wanna film in sunlight you need to activate the 85B orange filter.

derkateramabend I usually buy my film either at ANDEC Film (they have high quality Kodak film, development is included in price) or Kahl Film for cheaper film and development (but you have to buy more at once so I’d recommend ANDEC!). It was this week that I lost the ‘try not to hear that bloody song’ game... At a performance that I was on the tech crew for, the band felt very merry on the last night and after the show, decided to play ‘Fairytale in New York’. I was furious, but no one could understand why...
@Ben-nk3cx6 жыл бұрын
If you don’t know the competition, the idea is that in the run up to Christmas you try not to hear Fairytale in New York playing. It’s over played quite a lot ( the song, not the game) and so it’s very hard to not hear it. Matt and Tom try every year.

I got my first Super 8 movie camera in 1969, and finally quit using film altogether when VHS became affordable. In between those times I used Super 8, standard 8mm, and even started to transition into 16mm just as video got popular. I can't tell you how many miles of film I shot, cut, spliced, taped/glued back together, and had copies made of. It was a totally different experience shooting 50 feet of film (about 3 minutes worth) at a time, then waiting a week to get it back to see what you had. The format was a lot of fun, and really challenged your creativity. Sometimes I really miss it.

I’ve never done any film cinematography, but I’ve done some photography with old 35mm film, and you’re absolutely right. It’s got a character to it that just can’t be duplicated. Digital photography may be more “perfect,” but when film is imperfect, it’s imperfect in a pleasant way.
@christianlapointe77966 жыл бұрын
I've done some photography on film while in college, between 1998 and 2001 just as digital was coming about on the consumer level. Mostly in black and white, developing the negative ourselves and doing the lab exposition. Doing prints in the black room is a lot of fun though, you can do many things there that are replicated in photo editing softwares: overexpose (burn) or underexpose (dodge) simply with the exposition time, zooming with the height of the projector, crop using masks, modifying contrasts with filters or revelation time in the chemical bath... Although you can fidget with the prints in the lab to correct some of the imperfections, it is always better to start with a good shot and since film can be costly, you have to plan your shots more carefully. ISO, over/underexpostion to compensate different light level with no preview, no undo, only re-do. Time consuming, but a lot of fun nonetheless.
