Those underwater views really make all the difference! I was thinking that blade would get in the way, but it seems to work just fine. This certainly gets the old creative juices flowing, lol!

It definitely does! I will be making up a full box of crankbait accessories for sure.

Hey Steve! You might wanna check out a product called "Rampage Balls" or sometimes "Wicked Balls" (it's a translation thing- the Japanese name is "Abare Dama") by Zappu. It's basically a tungsten ball inside of a coiled spring that you thread around the shaft of the rear treble. It's supposed to give your crankbait the random deflection and hunting motion it gets from bouncing off bottom structure without having to bounce it off the bottom. Basically so you can get that same random action that incites bites in the mid or top part of the water column. I have some, just haven't had the opportunity to get out on the water with them yet.

I hadn't heard of those. Thank you! I will try to do that.

@@SteveRogersOutdoors I only heard about them a few weeks ago myself.

Amazing how those little tweeks can change the entire presentation.... i will be adapting the feather... done it with a jerk bait, but didnt even think of a crank... thank you

Amazing transformation with the blade and specially the feather will definitely try them both. This may be a game changer like you, said Steve!

There are replacement trebles that have a small blade attached behind the hook bend.

I tried adding a short length of soft-plastic bait to my crank bait but it totally messed up the action of the crank bait. The feathered rear hook looks like it might work much better.
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
I was really impressed with the feather. Now I just have to get faster at swapping hooks out. Lol.
@timappleton296211 ай бұрын
I think a smaller blade would be better, like the one that comes on that VMC treble that you can buy , I think it wouldn’t hinder the action as much , love these videos by the way
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
I will to check that one out. Thank you!

I've seen a treble with a willow off of it before as well. Somebody apparently makes them
Maybe the VMC hook with the blade on it is better?
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
It would sure be worth a try.

I paint my own lures and have a couple different sizes of the VMC’s that I’m going to try. They should work well for pike in Canada in stained water. On large baits with three trebles I’ll try them in the middle and back to see how they affect action. They would also be good to add to spoons. I already have a couple spoons with kicker blades. I’m wondering how much they would affect the wobble. One way to find out.

This is good ole 1995 tricks I used with crank baits. But I will give my biggest secret away take a ribbon tail I use green pumpkin cut it and go down the whole length of the crankbait super glue it on where it goes about 1/2" past the treble hook in back exacto knife this ribbon tail accordingly. Wish I could post a picture. Try it with a crankbait you are not found of and see what you think. It is impressive and gives the bass something soft. I have a few more tricks for crankbaits, but this is my share for the year and a very good one. Think outside the box, who says you can't carolina rig a crankbait, oops, I let that slip.
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
That is excellent! Thanks for sharing that. I will have to give it a try. There was a while there when I Carolina rigged crankbaits. I need to give it a go again.
@rickvann348911 ай бұрын
@SteveRogersOutdoors I find a smaller one and along grass lines hard bottoms and very slow this time a year. After I quit catching fish, I used a deep suspending jerk bait but not carolina rigging it just the normal way.
