I managed to do it pretty quickly, but I think I just got RNG that I could handle. Gave up on Radiant. I couldn't feel myself getting better. I felt I was just grinding for the RNG that I could beat with my skill level. Only boss I haven't done on Radiant and I'm okay with that. I sort of cheated Markoth, though. I ended up making a brand new file and getting Kingsoul to do Radiant Markoth then used cheats to beat him in my other file that I had done the other Radiant bosses in (I had already converted Kingsoul to Void Heart). Could be considered cheating, but I proved to myself that I can beat him with the tools the game gives you, so I'm pretty satisfied. Plus I got to play nearly the whole game again just to get to fight Markoth with Kingsoul and any excuse to play more Hollow Knight is good in my book.

I see this everywhere, even in stories where the villain is literally a genocidal maniac but they're given a sob story to make them sympathetic. Almost every time it's just pretentious sophistry. Nah, she's pretty evil. It's not because of any shallow perspective-based reasoning like how we "play as the void". She's evil because she causes harm, maliciously, to people who did nothing to deserve it. She has no noble or sympathetic motivation, not that that would make her actions any less fucked. She's a jealous, petty, spiteful narcissist who doesn't like that her old subjects chose to follow a god who was more appealing to them- that says more about her than anyone else. It's like a parent treating their child like an item to be owned and shown off to others, and then being upset that they never visit when they're grown. No, the fact that she's a deity doesn't matter. She's more along the lines of a humanized god the likes of which we see in Greek mythology as opposed to some amoral, Lovecraftian force of nature where notions of good and evil don't apply. She has moral agency. She was jealous of another more endearing god who made an effort to engage with these bugs on their level. She's capable of recognizing the bugs of Hallownest as alive and sentient, yet she either murders them or strips them of free will purely for her own satisfaction. Trying to excuse that as "just trying to take back control of her own (and others') creations" is both odd and reductive, and doesn't really do a great job of not making her seem at least a little evil when viewed in context. When I fought her, I wasn't thinking about how I was representing the void therefore light = bad. I was thinking about all the people she murdered and enslaved just so she could remain the center of attention.

They forsook their own Creator. The Pale King, while he somewhat cared about the Kingdom, not only threw countless children into the Abyss but also abandoned the Kingdom and ran away the moment the Infection started leaking again. The lore tablet in the White Palace says:- "No blazing kin. Only one light shall shine against the dark. The wyrm becomes the beacon, minds expanded, to yield, to devote. Eternity in promise and charge in progeny cursed." Here, 'blazing kin' refers to the Radiance. The Pale King seems to want to be the only light in Hallownest and was trying to actively reject the Radiance. So, she destroyed his Kingdom with her infection. Plus, the Radiance, while being an individual God, is indeed a force of nature in the world of Hallownest. She is somewhat the main God Of Light, Dreams & Essence. She refers to the Void as 'Ancient Enemy' referring to an ancient, natural enmity between them. Hiveminds are a natural system which existed in Hallownest since before the Pale King. The Moths, the Shroomkin, the Hive, etc. all had a hivemind of their own. The Infection is an aggressive iteration of the Radiance's hivemind.

This is unironically one of my favourite bosses in the game. I love the setting, soundtrack, story and overall design. My only problem is that it maintains the same problem that the base Radiance had, which is stacking patterns. Mind, it can be a clever design choice to make a boss harder, but sometimes it makes her attacks almost completely unavoidable. Anyway, kudos to you, sir! This was hands down one of the cleanest fights I have ever seen.

I did this one radiant a few days ago. What helped me is that I did the Phanteon of Hallownest with all bindings separatly. It took weeks but now I think I can consistently beat her on attuned while still joking around. It was the second last boss I had to do on radiant, after that I managed to do radiant Markoth and finally get the shade lord statue. Hollow knight really made me realize how good I am at videogames, I never thought I would be able to do this, but I did.

@@therichman3685 Well yes, and i was not satisfied and did it again a week later in about 2 hours and 30 minutes, but do remenber that while i beat abs rad in 3 hours, It was hell, bc I did it without a break and by the and i was exhausted both mentally and fisically (fisically bc It was way past My bed time like 5 hours, 3 of them i spent solely on abs rad)

The best plan is to practice in the Hall of Gods until you get very consistent with winning. You can also try bindings one by one to unlock lifeblood (8 bindings = 3 lifeblood, 12 for 4, 16 for 5), although the final lifeblood is available before Pure Vessel so unless you do the fight with minimal damage it may not provide any benefit. There's some good boss guides available like Perpetual Noob's.

@@CrankyTemplar yeah, I've been practicing in the Hall of Gods. honestly the one thing that really plagues me is that 5th phase where the bolts of light just come down willy nilly. maybe my brain is too slow to react to them. I feel like I've spent more than 10 hours by now only fighting Absolute Radiance, and I just can't figure out how to avoid getting hit during the ascent-phase. that and Markoth are my two biggest enemies at this point of my life lol

I haven't even reached the Absolute Radiance yet, or any of the Radiance levels, i'm no where near good enough yet and i really try to avoid researching patterns etc. This game will be a long term challenge.... this game is so smooth to play and has such insane levels of challenge from the early game towards the end, the art is beautiful too. Having such an insanely hard final boss seemed disappointing to me for a while because i might never be able to get there, but after a while it seems fitting to have a TRUE challenge at the end of such a great game. The challenge is there for you, if you REALLY want to test yourself, but it IS possible. I like it.
