Scrap prices have hit a new low. Tin is $25 a ton. Alum is .20 a pound. Bright copper is little over a $1 a pound. Easy days of scrap money are over cause now you can't give it away.

It sucks that the prices have dropped so much. I remember it was $10.00 a ton when I was around 10 years old. I helped my dad load up a bunch of iron and tin and when we took it to the scrap yard my dad walked out with $12.00 Not even enough for gas for us to make it home in his Chevy Winch Truck. It took my dad $15.00 in gas to take it in. Prices were up the day before we took it in and then when we got there we were shocked at what we got. That was 18 years ago. I'm sure the prices will go back up again. It's just a matter of time. About 10 years after that price drop I remember taking scrap metal tin in when I was 20 years old and it was $400.00 a ton. I actually made a $50.00 profit on a $400.00 car I bought and then drove it until the motor blew. Paid $400.00 for the car and then drove it for many miles and got my $400.00 back plus $50.00 more Basically had a free car and it was worth scrapping. I have enough space to hoard around 600 Tons of scrap iron and steel so I'm just throwing it in the salvage storage space my dad and I have and am waiting on a price rise. When it does I'll have some cash. answerpail.com

I think you're in the same area in Mi. as me. I'm in Benzie County and I take mine to Grandpas Garage in Grand Traverse County next to the fairgrounds. and they pay more over where you went.
