Was your A Twin clutchless? It's a total guess, but did you grab a little too much rear brake? Now that you have a clutch, the engine stalled, which is what kept it locked.

Great to see country I haven't seen for decades. Makes me a tad homesick. 🖖 Yes, I thought the speed I saw (75-80), on that dry road with runs of loose scree was a bit adventurous, you scared the shit out of me, I could see that young tree looming. Not the best time for those roads, way too busy, I don't remember so many trucks, except around logging areas. Must be all the mining. Did you go to the Pub ?
@ADVBrettАй бұрын
Yup, we went right to the pub!!! I haven't seen so many trucks out there either, we had about 5 near misses so after my little "off biek adventure" we really toned it down. And you're right, I should've just taken my time, selected a different route and get used to the bike. Very big lesson learnt!
@prawnsАй бұрын
you carry a air compressor? As soon as you said the front felt sketchy on the marbles I wondered what a few PSI less in the tyres would of felt like - sometimes thats all it takes. Some brands/models of tyres seem to appreciate it more than others and it can make a big difference
@ADVBrettАй бұрын
Hey fella!! Yeah I had the front dow to 20psi and the rear at 22psi. I think it was just the lighter weight than the twin and me not being used to it. That road is notoriously loose so in hindsight, should've gone somewhere a little firmer!

Easiest way to get to know a dirt bike , is to ride it in first , rev it out… back it off rev it out , go into second rinse repeat then in third , you will then know how your bike behaves when the power is down to the ground in sand , gravel ect ….and how the bike handles terrible if the revs are too low in the higher gears on the loose stuff.
@ADVBrettАй бұрын
@@SomewhereInside Awesome advice mate, heading out this week on a solo run to get to know the bike some more, just takes practice right?
@SomewhereInsideАй бұрын
@@ADVBrett sure does , every time I buy a new bike , push bike , e bike or e scooter , off to a deserted car park and learn how that units brakes work , how it stops , how it steers and how the tyres feel at different speeds and lean angles . Those adventure bikes are powerful and heavy compared to the lightweight trail enduro bikes of the past , on the heavy bikes standing up is beneficial more so than lighter bikes .

First drop... well that got THAT out of the way, good to go now mate 🙃 Very honest appraisal of the situation. TRA mentioned the brakes wree a bit grabby, wouldn't be hard at all to stay on them un-wittingly, especially with the post-crash horrors! (Which are fully understandable mate, even as a watcher I was filled with dread about your crash - there were a lot of "what if's" about how much worse it could easily have been). I LMFAO at TRA - "I don't get the chance to take the pi$$ much - this is it"😆 Wot a feckin day.... Stay safe mate, can only get better, and you'll end up the wiser from all of it, I feel 🙂

BRO! On the first ride. Shit happens hey. What a day you had. Ya still vetical thankfully. Good to see ya sticking to the left even if it was a bit too much so. I thought you were gunna hit that tree bro. I'm so glad you owned it brother, so many people blame everything else. And you picked it up YAY! Here's a PRO tip for you bruv. Put your bike up on a centre stand. It needs to be very secure or have someone ready to help hold the bike. Now the fun part. Get on it and move around on it like your actually riding and in both standing and sitting positions put the brake on an even gear change and move your boots around at different angles and distances from the levers and see if they get jammed or hook up in there because that can happen and cause a lock up and l or fall because ya can't get ya foot out in time. Also see if your knee guards and pants get snagged anywhere. I've had knee guards that would snag once and even on Caitie there is this spot where my boot gets jammed in my brake lever. I am usually fine, it's only an issue when I'm getting a bit Extreme and pulling off moves that would only be humanly possible if Travis Pastrami and Polle Torres were mixed into a clone and fed on Castrol TTS 2stroke mix instead of milk and taught to ride a CR 500 before he could walk. And you forgot my golden rule. Keep it real on the back wheel. Stay safe burva.

maybe not quite that simple. My new '21 890 suffered a similar fate where the rear brake stayed on partially after being applied when hot. Mine wasn't enough to lock the wheel, but I pulled over as I could feel something wasnt right. Took it back to KTM and they reckon it was caused by overfill rear reservoir from the factory, said I wasn't the first. In this case, ABS doesnt help. That was 2 years ago, thought KTM might have rectified that fault by now.
