I decided to do a 48+ hour fast before thanksgiving, ended up making it to 62 hours this time. And, this was the first prolonged fast I've done in about 2 months. Makes you realize how psychological food really is. I was having terrible cravings for the first day and a half, and that completely went away. Hunger hormones reset, my dopamine is spared. But really, after coming out of the fast, and then eating good later, I ended up feeling VERY good. Like, the best I've felt in a while. We all definitely need to realize how addicting food is.

Since I have been on low carb and IF, I stay in homeostasis. Yesterday on thanksgiving, I ate foods that where high in carbs or sugar or both. My thought patterns changed very quickly. I felt more depressed, anxious and overall not very good. This was a good reminder of how food effects my brain chemistry. Yikes.

Isn't it crazy that we know, in the long run, we'll feel like crap if we eat processed, overly sweetened foods, yet we're willing to trade feeling & looking our best for the short term gratification that pleasure foods provide. I know it's insanity but I just can't control myself a lot of the time. Processed & sugary foods truly are addictive poisons.

Does body fat percentage affect the ability to put on muscle? (More Fat % = Slow Muscle Gain ???)
@ThomasDeLauerOfficial6 жыл бұрын
Vijayendra Shah good question. I’ll dive into it
@qthirteen136 жыл бұрын
Vijayendra Shah generally speaking the body resists fat loss at single body fat percentage digits...it would be nice to learn how the opposite works....but it definitely is noted that power lifters are big and fat looking cause their muscles have more fat marbling...so they don’t have endurance but they have impressive muscle size and powerful explosive muscles
@KeeperOfKale2226 жыл бұрын
My guess is it would be easier for a heavy person to put on muscle. Especially with Keto, since your body isn’t going to dip into metabolizing muscle any time soon. Hormones and other things will probably also affect you. But those are just guesses.

Great explanations in this video! Thanks to you and the info you provide, I was able to plan ahead for Thanksgiving with family and not have to worry about putting on extra pounds. It was VERY easy to get right back into the swing of things the day after Thanksgiving and not feel like I've done ANY damage to my weight loss progress. Question: If CCK is the brain trigger to tell you to stop eating, why isn't it available in a shot or pill form to help control obesity in people (like me) who struggled with their weight because they never felt full? Luckily I found Keto and intermittent fasting and they work perfectly at keeping me satiated now, but a CCK supplement would've been a miracle for me and so many others who struggle with their weight.

I’ve been on strict keto for three months. I lost 90% of my belly fat and man boobs. Lost 3 inches in my waist. Just got back from a week in Austria and a wellness center there. Which is basically a hotel with 5 course dinner meal, 3 meals a day and saunas and steam rooms. I had the German beers the breads the desserts just about all that was served in till I was full. Although they were five and six course meal’s they were small portioned. Considering that I’ve must’ve eaten 4000 cal a day I thought for sure I would’ve gained weight. No change on my weight. Went back on keto when I came home I’ve lost another 2 pounds. Although my cheating of keto was restricted to one slice of bread 1/2 L of beer and a little bit of dessert a day, it proved to me that my body has converted to fat burning as a source of fuel. Didn’t have high glucose spikes and according to my breathalyzer I was in I small amount of ketosis all the time. And although it was only a week I’ve proved to myself that the calories in calories out theory does not compute. So what I’m saying is once your body converts to fat as a fuel you don’t have to ruin your vacation because you’re still under control.

Hey Thomas, I’m a 40 y.o. woman from Sweden who just started plowing through your channel. Thanks for great videos! I have three questions for you, hoping you want to help me: 1. I’m planning on doing a 16/8 intermittent fasting, mainly for fat loss, hoping to loose about 20 pounds. I will eat at noon, at 4 in the afternoon and at 8 in the evening. What’s the best way to devide proteins, fats and carbs on these three meals? I’ve heard you saying ricecakes are a good way to break the fast? So, should I take some of them at noon, wait 45 minutes and then have my first real meal (out of three)? Is it a good plan to have proteins+fats with the first meal, then proteins+carbs, then proteins+fats for the last meal before fasting again? If not; what should I do? 2. Does it matter if my days of fasting are in direct connection with eachother, or spread out through the week? For example fasting monday+wednesday+friday, versus monday+tuesday, friday+saturday? 3. I’m assuming I should have a calorie deficit on my days of fasting, for example 1500 kcal/day, instead of 2000, and then eat ”normally” on my non-fasting days?

I want to start intermittent fasting. I am just wondering. I take thyroid medicine. Levothyroxine I think it's called in English. I take 50 mg a day. 100 mg on Fridays and Monday's. So the amount I take is not that high. Is there something I should think of while fasting that is important that I eat or take? Also I live in Sweden and it's getting cold here. I wouldn't say I know too much about what my body needs. I take biotin daily. What other supplements should I be taking while fasting?

Thomas, I have been following the keto diet with IF for about a month and a half now. But I have a long upcoming Chrismas holiday I will mostly be with family and friends thus it will be impossible to stay in Ketosis (drinking, dinners and all that) should I still try to restrict carbs and stick to a high fat diet or will it not really have an effect if I'm not in Ketosis? and rather pickup where I left of after the holiday

I’m having trouble getting rid of the last bit of stomach fat. I can’t do Keto even though I want to. What do I do or what do you recommend?

Thomas, what do you think about OM2D/KETO (One Meal every 2 Days=OM2D) for weight loss. Been on OMAD/KETO for 6+ months and am extremely happy so far with my energy, health and weight loss but now I’ve plateaued. I would like to loss the last 20 lb to be more ripped, Thoughts?

I am 21and a really healthy person, but when I go to the movie theater and happen to get popcorn I can't stop eating it lol I eat it the most out of anyone there whether it be my cousin or brother who are less healthy than me, but they are healthy I just find it funny and interesting that my Dopamine craving are so high and I can't stop eating all of it lol or waaaaay more than my family members lol I even still eat and can't stop eating when I start feeling shitty and my tummy starts to rumble and hurt a little bit, my brain still wants more it's insane so I still eat that's the thing that surprises me the most, is that I can't and won't stop eating that Theater Popcorn even when I am starting to feel shitty and stomach is starting to rumble
