After fussing with the Radiomaster MT12 and not getting it to bind with any FlySky receivers I ordered one of these Dumbos and it's so dang simple I had all my Dumbo receivers bound and trimmed in minutes. Love it! Side note: We also use a FlySky GT5 and GT3B which also are intuitive and work perfectly. My son and I often drive RCs at the same time so we keep a few transmitters each with their own assigned trucks.

I’ve had this radio since it was released. The tension of the wheel/trigger is a pro for me. I have never grabbed a wheel square so the offset is a nonissue, I hadn’t even noticed it until you pointed it out. I have yet to find a radio that has a button layout that I like so I just deal with whatever is given. I do agree about the battery tray F! AA. The battery indicator of my radio does not bounce around so I don’t know what was going on there, possibly junk batteries? I wear a medium glove but in some cases I need a small which is definitely a factor in my comfort of this radio. Personally I would purchase the DDF-350 over anything else in its price point. My current favorite radio is a Dumbo x6pm which is very small.

Yeah I don't get the complaint about the wheel angle, the angle is correct for how normal people hold a transmitter, angled backwards would be god awful, makes me seriously question this guys judgement.

I have had a DDF350 for a month or two and for the $50ish I paid for it I think its fantastic and frankly for the money I'm not sure there is anything better. I 3d printed adapter for 12mm hex and I slapped a nice grippy road slick on there and I have no problems with ergonomics, the grip is a little slim but I might model up and print a sleeve for it out of TPU eventually. Your battery readout is going crazy because you're using random AA's, with my rechargeable ones it reads properly, also I turned off audio alerts, those got old quick.

Rc6gs is better for the same price 🤷♂️ really depends what vehicles you have and which receivers work best for your situation. The radios are functionally the same except being 10 vs 7 channel. I've never seen an RC that was not a plane that needs 7 channels. Therefore the deciding factor comes down to receiver size and the R4FGM is much smaller than any dumbo offering.

@@anon556 You know, if you're gonna comment, you might as well comment something that contains some info as opposed to 'X is better - Y is worse, I have never seen an elephants therefore there are no elephants, and purple is prettier therefore the purple one is better.' Planes rarely if ever need 7 channels, it depends on how many aux things they have, but a digger/hoe or some truck with lights etc very well might. Most of the channels seem on/off...

As far as ergos, I’m usually between a medium and large glove size and I really like the ergos. I thought I would hate the steering wheel angle before I got it in my hands and then I loved it when I got it in my hands because it allows me to keep my left wrist at a much more relaxed angle. I also really appreciate the heavier resistance on the trigger and wheel. I think if you’re using this for some sort of racing like I use mine with a 1/8 buggy. The heavier resistance makes it easier for me to be smooth when I’m having to turn and moderate the throttle so quickly. I find when I use radios with low spring tension I’m always banging the steering wheel to 100% turn with little control. Much like how real sports cars have much heavier controls than a Corolla for instance. I think these ergos are much better suited to a racing application vs crawling as evidenced by the racy styling (the sports car wheel with carbon accents).

I thank you for your opinion (obviously or I wouldn't have sent it). My reason for purchase was because I have 4 rigs that came with the RTR 6chnnl Dumbo radios, but also use their light controllers. So, I these rigs are TRX4 adjacent in that they have locking diffs, 2 speed and also the Dumbo fancy light controller. So you need a fair amount of channels...and then there are the lights and winch. I've never owned a metal wheel (and never heard mention of one) so I thought it would be a good thing to try out. I think my rigs will love it, but my child-sized hands will not. We live and learn. Also, I do own Radiolink Trans/rec and love them, but they won't work with the light controllers I have on some rigs. Thanks for the great review!

Couldn't I connect a total of 8 LEDs with 3 Y-cables (4x at the front (white) and 4x at the back (red) and then switch them on and off? That would be enough for me. 2s lipos come in some very small sizes that would simply have to fit anywhere that those AAs would. I have been using the XTAR Li-ion AAs in some finicky transmitters, as recommended by AMPRO Egineering, and they are great. They run at 1.5V like regular alkaline AAs instead of thw 1.2V of other rechargeables, which alleviates issues with my DX5 rugged. One could argue that owning a DX5 rugged IS the issue.

I have two radios that are confined to AA use (molded trays) and it still irritates me. There's no reason. If you dare to put a USB-C port on the side of your transmitter, that battery tray had better have 18650s in it. I've made my feelings clear about Spektrum electronics (of all types) in the past. I contend that no one has screwed up a scroll/click wheel worse than Spektrum.

Let your elbows rest at your sides and straighten out your wrists. Angle your forearms toward your center and that angled steering wheel is now more aligned with your steering hand. I use the angled wheel on my 10px and I love it. It lets me keep my arms close to my body so they're supported during a race or while drifting. I have a bad habit of going all claw handed and contorted over time if I'm not conscious of how I'm holding the tx Regarding winching ability. I learned the hard way I need a momentary toggle for my winch. In the moment of a comp, I broke my hook and got the line all knotted up by missing the middle detent on a slider switch. If your drag brake is strong enough, you really want to be able to creep with a little throttle and have steering control while you winch. Lastly, that's a deep cut quoting Mr Horse. I still say that in reference to that old episode. I have no idea why that quote of quotes stuck with me for so long

Angle of the weel its very comfortable for me as I nearly never holding radio front of me on right angle. In cycling, we have three contact points: bars, saddle, and pedals. For people that use MTB-style clips, the Shimano M520 is ever popular. Cheap, adjustable, available everywhere. I don't like 'em. Never have. I don't like the feel of the clip, I don't like the release angle, I don't like much about them except for the price. I dislike Crank Brothers even more, to a borderline hate. So I have to comb the internet for NOS Look S-Tracks, which are the pedal I love above all others. So when I took the 350 out of the box, and felt the anemic grip, bad balance, metal knob, terrible wheel tension... it's Shimano 520s. Somebody is gonna use this radio and never be bothered. Re-analogizing: if you ride a bike 10 miles a month, your saddle and handlebar choice basically make no difference. You can use literally whatever. If you ride 200 miles a week, suddenly, things become more critical. I use radios nearly every day, usually for hours at a time. The 350 is invited to the party. Which is a damn shame, because the software and display are pretty damn good. But the physical interface is, to my hands, repulsive.

I said that I'm sure a lot of people will like the 350 just fine. For me, it failed ergonomically more than anything, and that failure is not correctable. I'm not going to overlook flaws in design simply to use a radio for a specific feature that radio might offer. I've no feelings towards the 350, positive or negative-- genuine ambivalence. It didn't do the job the way I wanted it done. It's really that simple.

"you have to put your wrist out like this to hold it" "i dont like like it" ... buddy. Maybe dont hold it like you got epilepsy 😂 not to mention almost all transmitters arent meant for one handed use. A 500$ spectrum rugged still comes with a 3d printed thumb extension just so you can drive one handed. If all your going to do is complain then maybe find a different hobby

If all you're going to do is nitpick a review on the internet, maybe you should find a first hobby. I'm going to go ahead and guess that I've held more radios in my time than you have, so you can kick back with your small sample size and like what you like. I don't like the ergonomics of the 350, and you trying to claim that's some sort of weakness on my part is ignorance on yours.

Your a grown man whining about a heavy sprung trigger .. Id rather have a heavy trigger so i know the position just by feel, look at any dx series spectrum transmitters theyre so lite of a trigger you dont even know where you are.

LOL. Any "argument" that uses a Spektrum radio as point of comparison is automatically invalid. Spektrum makes garbage radios for the RTR crowd. Their "top of the line" pistol grip radios get out-featured by $60 radios. They can't even get a scroll wheel right.
