Baby bunnies coming soon to a field near Fort Madison! That courtship behavior is called "cavorting." Loved the "birthday boogie"--happy birthday, Maria! And we have a Happy Honker in Kansas City (or maybe it was the Super Bowl effect). I've been missing Hesperia; looks as if they're still getting over that truly torrential rain. And all those original Chessies in one place made me smile, and so did the shiny Chessie loco. This one was terrific!

Thanks VRF. That cute little CF7 at Waycross was good to see, a great improvement on the original Loco Bodyshell design - IMO. Also the shadow effect at the Big 10 Curve, that was pretty cool and the filming was nicely done.

CF-7's have to be one of the greatest rebuild success stories ever. IIRC Santa Fe intended to squeeze maybe 12 more years out of their F-7's with the rebuilding. They got more than that out of them. The last ones were retired by them in 1987. Then they started selling them off to shortlines (Amtrak even got some) where some are still in use.

As good as ever if not better! Liked the locomotive "Virginian"; reminds me of a certain TV western series made in the USA and also broadcast on BBC TV in the UK in the early '70s... Loved the rabbits (of course) the Big 10 Curve sequence and the one at Fort Madison (? the Iowan location often featured) All good except the Darwins but we need to see those (I suppose) as a reminder to BE CAREFUL WITH RAILWAYS...more greetings from UK

Everytime I see someone crawling under a train car I think of my neighbor years ago he said when he was a kid he crawled under a stopped train and it started to move and it cost him a leg! Then he said a strange statement that he said it must have taken me 20 years to admit it was my own fault. Like who's fault did he think it was?

I knew someone who got right down on the side of the track laying down the embankment. He wasn't close to being hit, but it was scary for him when the train was moving at around 45 mph. He complained about it and I told him that it was himself who put himself in that position. If I didn't have to cross the train, I wouldn't. I did once because the train had us blocked in the field. At this location, they have parked trains for 10 hours and several hours isn't unusual. Both of us went one at a time and we used the steps and the walkway. I checked the air to make sure the brakes were set. I was in the middle of the car when he released the air. I took my time just in case he started to move. I made it off without any issues. I also know how to get on and off the train when parked and when moving.

Love the "Virginian" paint scheme. Of all the NS heritage units, that is my favorite. Kinda wish NS would adopt if for all their units - just make the yellow stripes white and replace "Virginian" with "Norfolk Southern" and the horse head "NS" logo. Tired of the all black scheme.

Darwin candidates or not, it's awful when a train blocks a road for as long as that. This goes doubly so in winter. One very cold day here in Winnipeg a CP train on the Sprague subdivision blocked numerous major thoroughfares for a full hour during the afternoon rush, just as it was getting dark. Not only were over a thousand people delayed getting home, some transit users literally ended up in the hospital with frostbite because they were waiting in an area without shelter in -30° weather for a bus that couldn’t make it across the tracks.
