Congratulations again on beating the "Big fish in a small sea". It is a breath of fresh air as no one in Manitoba could beat Matthew. Please continue to play tournaments in Manitoba to keep the "Big Fish" in his place. Bravo! 😊

Well played, you looked so tired at the end man and the players you were against were so strong, really entertaining video and educational video for me. I like how the last guy didnt necessarily flick anything really hard but good spin and placement was enough to neutralise your serve advantage and get in his fh on the next ball. Often i go too hard ans gice away lots lf cheap points, thanks for sharing!

Great stuff Vlad! I enjoy these commentaries. About your forehand: I can't believe I'm trying to give someone of your level advice, but it seems like rely too much of your arm to do the work, especially in the faster rallies. And if you are using a rubber like D09C and you aren't getting your weight into your forehand then your shots will lack quality. You might already be aware of this, and maybe it has to do with your movement around your knee. But if this is the way you have been playing forehand all your life (like you said in the video then), maybe consider D05 on your forehand as well. It might just fit your playstyle a bit better with you being a more backhand oriented player and to have a forehand rubber that does a bit of the work for you.
@VladTableTennis7 ай бұрын
That’s a solid advice! What I was thinking is boosting 09C to help me out with it. Because it’s tackiness really helped my short game, I don’t want to sacrifice that!

in my opinion you take your safety on the forhand away, when you go too much for forhand flip(cause on forhand flip everybody makes more mistakes). You need to make 2 steps and play backhand flick on his serves and only play forhand flick, when the serve comes wide out in the forhand, and then it is easier to flip.
@VladTableTennis7 ай бұрын
I know, but also, I’m so used to how my knees are conditioned now lol But when it is needed to, as you saw, I saved backhand flips for the last game

why doesn't matthew (canadian national team guy) use very spinny serves? I mean he definitely can but what sort of advantage would it provide over using a spinny serve
@jonathanrauhut30547 ай бұрын
tactic: vlad could use his spin against him, cause he has better feeling on the ball
@VladTableTennis7 ай бұрын
This just his playing style, or maybe those serves feel to me like they are not that spiny! Could be how I view it honestly. But in my practice, those no spin serves are actually quite tough to return, especially if your opponent is looking to attack hard
@perthpongtt7 ай бұрын
I think if it's low, and there is still variation, it's still hard to return. Against some players that aren't that good at receiving, I prefer to give less spin, to give me an advantage on the 3rd ball attack - if it's less spinny, you don't have to work as hard for the 3rd ball, and sometimes there's a higher chance the ball will pop up high. But anyway, I'm not playing the caliber of ppl as in this video.
