Hillclimbs, sprints, land speed racing would all be very interesting applications due to the low displacement. It’s even make semi sense to be turned down some and used for an lmh racing car, really down to what longevity targets are really. I can see the crate motor used in both NA and turbo form for everything that fits four and six cylinder swaps… definitely given something to chew on though

my personal opinion? drop it into a Radical SR8, tune it and refine it in Time Attack, and try to take the Pikes Peak record. for a customer base? try talking to kit car companies like Factory Five, Ultima, and Superlite to see if you can get it as a drop-in, ready-to-run engine for some of their offerings.

has your team ever built a small displacement drag car engine? Back in the 70s to 2000s a lot of drag cars used to rev well past 10k rpm on 4L+ of displacement. A good example is the 12K rpm nova that was big on youtube in the early 2000s

@ElmerRacing
@ElmerRacing 2 жыл бұрын
We have some customers that we have discussed NA engine options with. So far none have become orders. It's much easier to design a good NA engine than a turbo engine though, would be a nice change! We are very good at designing turbo engines though, and those are clearly the best choice in most cases (not all).

The only torque values we will ever release for any of our engines are for fasteners. Where it makes sense. Vehicle performance is determined by power, i.e. how much energy you can produce per time unit. (determines how much kinetic energy you can put into the vehicle, or friction losses etc)

This will definitely touch 20K rpm like the old honda 250cc inline 4 Jus take the design from s1000rr heads put it on a V12 and destroke😂😂 And i would think having both a turbocharged and supercharged versions is cool because of the sound issue The supercharger amplifies the sound while the turbo silences it The supercar that uses tjis engine must be extremely light because its only 1 liter so basically kitcars and any single seaters This is literally better than current F1 engines

@AlmightySarlac
@AlmightySarlac Жыл бұрын
But you're not comparing like with like, so you coming on here and saying your engine will be way more extreme simply isn't true. You have to give Cosworth their due here, you build very highly boosted billet race engines but have no experience at all with normally aspirated powertrain development, Cosworth has been doing this for over 60 years and the GMA V12 achieves things that no normally aspirated road engine has before. Also it seems to me that making a 1L V12 rev higher than a 4L V12 wouldn't be that great of an achievement, even if you only factor in the reduction in reciprocating mass, but until ElmerRacing builds a 4L normally aspirated V12 with the same or better power figures, a 12,000+ rpm redline, that's also Euro 6 emissions compliant and has 100,000 Km durability you don't really have a point.
@ElmerRacing

Emissions is the question mark for sure! The development hours needed to meet those don't come cheap! Engine wise though, the main things for supercar engines are: 1) fun and engaging to drive 2) crazy specs 3) good power

It would be smart to aim for a less technically inclined audience than the target demographic of your other products*. I'd display the engine in a way that makes it more comparable to normal sports car engines, which would intuitively highlight just how insane your engine is and it would appeal to FAR more people. Doing that allows you to rely on the emotional appeal of the engine, instead of having to rely on abstract technical figures that require prior technical knowledge and limit the size of your audience SEVERELY. By keeping it mainstream, you can appeal to a far bigger audience and generate publicity more easily. In addition, you then don't have to familiarize the audience with the products you aim to compete with. The vast majority of people aren't familiar with small niche V12 engines made by Cosworth etc. They shouldn't need half an engineering degree or even any prior knowledge about engines to understand why your engine is cool. And if they never even heard about the T50 before, that makes your engine THAT much more special to them. I'm convinced that putting the enigne in a Miata and bringing it to some automotive KZbinrs and car journalists can yield great results. That would be a great way of showcasing the experience of the engine in a way many people can relate to. And it's a well proven receipe to reach a wide audience. You'd get a channel like CarThrottle to make a video about your engine by engine-swapping a car as popular as a Miata, that's certain... That's going to get a couple million clicks any day of the week. In my opinion, the engine really should not be showcased in a supercar or racecar application, even if that's where it's going to be sold. Break out of your niche!!

*And as cool as Hillclimb races and Time Attack events are, very few people even know what those are and they are definitely not marketable... you'll only reach a couple hundred bored middle-aged men who never used the share button on a social media site in their entire lives.
@sodazman

Adding turbos is already a fail because it ruins the noise, purity and packaging. What makes the GMA special is the extremely low kerb weight, not just the engine, so it doesn't need as much power. I'm sure the engine could rev higher but they most likely toned it back for reliability. The Valkyrie version already makes almost 1,200hp - 160hp electric with no turbos.
@Shadowboost

The GMA engine is rated for 150,000 miles and meets Euro 6 standards while being a semi-stressed structural contributor to the chassis. On top of all the other things it can do. Insane
@komentierer
@komentierer 2 жыл бұрын
Revs per minute in the GMA T50 are limited because of the engine's displacement besides the reliability. They run into issues because they're hitting the hard limits of how fast a piston can move in the cylinder. Lowering displacement allows for more revs with the same piston velocity.
