I was *waiting* for you to tackle the costume contest story! Didn't disappoint. It's a giant WTH moment across the board. I'm almost curious why the same girl has been entering a fraternity contest for more than 4 years, but other than that, yeah. If it's a best costume contest, and someone else put more effort in than 'lingerie with animal ears' (even with that being a winning formula for a while), then the effort should win. Also, throwing back to a contest where I'd made a lot of my costume and entered, and rules were supposed to be if you're clearly a group costume, you get judged together. (If you come as the Powerpuff Girls, you're one entry, not Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup individually.) Anyway, a group of 6 people (mostly wearing clearly bought costumes) come as Harry Potter characters, but argued with the second judge who'd been pulled out of the crowd to help (and was dressed in a plastic seascape shower curtain with random fish stickers in her hair) that they weren't a group. The more qualified judge was emceeing by this point. HP group swept the top 5 instead of taking one spot, and I was kicked out on the final placement rotation before awards. I told her she wasn't being fair, called her a 'rejected Finding Nemo background' (I described her outfit for contest), and went to a movie with friends instead.

Fair play is actually a really helpful tool for couples to realize the truth of how they divide tasks and reassess how to share better. Because sometimes working through it is possible and a better option. (That guy is still the AH)

I seriously love your takes on these stories. Some other AITA reaction channels can get me down, but even with sad or infuriating stories, I feel bolstered listening to you. ❤

That 22 yo is young but I'd be willing to guess that one day she will be going no contact with her mother. As she should. I am 37 years old and just now about to have my first kid due to MANY reasons, but money and time being a big factor. I spent all of my 20s and the early part of my 30s hearing my father ask when I was going to "give him grandchildren". It wasn't even about ME having kids, he always saw them as his property. He completely disregarded my very serious health conditions that prevented me from becoming pregnant the "normal" way and acted like the victim all the time. Due to this and MANY other emotionally abusive reasons, he is no longer a part of my life. Now I'm going to have a son in a month and my father won't be a part of his life. Sucks to suck. You should never have kids to please someone else. That's how children end up resented and neglected. OP is still so young and hopefully gets away from that toxic situation.

The second to last one - she needs to throw out the whole man! This is definitely weaponized incompetence dressed up with a whole ton of misogyny. She needs a divorce STAT! Yes that will make her a single mother, but he will also be a single dad too... He will learn just how hard it is to parent your own kids while having to cook, clean, do the dishes & take out the trash. All while holding down a full-time job!

The last story gave me a chuckle as it made me think of a short I recently saw of a woman going to a wedding who no longer fits the dress she bought because she's pregnant, after going through her three choices that fit the wedding's theme, including the aforementioned ill-fitting one, she showed a fourth option, which was a cow costume.

If you don’t want children, for the love of God do not have them!!! Please don’t have them for your parents. If they want to be around kids, they could get qualified to provide respite care for foster children. They desperately need folks to take care of kids short term, to give the foster parents a ittle break. I don’t know if they do this anymore, but they used to have volunteers in the NICU to rockand hold the babies when mom and dad can’t be there.

The story about the Sahm, I lived it - my girls are now 8 and 6. I'm no longer with my ex husband because I couldn't take being told that running the house, working from home, homeschooling and taking the girls to their activities wasn't enough. I didn't clean the house "to his standard" - all he had to do was help me just a little bit and everything could have worked out. Girl, set this boundary or you'll end up like me. You don't deserve it. None of us do.

Omg I know the person that’s being talked about at 5:20 her name is Ashley Carnduff and she’s a sick-fluencer that has set up Go Fund Me’s and that pretends to be sick for money and views. It’s really really sad.

I only included her name because she wants to be as well known as possible, she has 15k followers on Instagram and all she does is post about how sick she is without any cause. She makes things so much harder for people that are genuinely chronically ill like myself and it’s so frustrating to watch.

There’s a whole subreddit called r/ashleycarnduff of people calling her out for faking her sickness. She’s set up gofundmes for no reason and manages to get sponsors from brands like Liquid IV

I don’t have POTS but I am a healthcare worker and have seen about 5 people that have POTS that also get a hypertensive response to standing. It actually is possible to have POTS and hypertension at the same time. It’s just very ironic- but possible

Yeah no idea wtf the fair play was going on about. You can exactly do something fair if the person refuses to listen to you in the first place. If he feels like it’s unfair just how it is (ugh) what makes people think he’s gonna want to take on more stuff to make it fair? Nah it’s clear he’s just pissy bc he had to do a couple stuff. When one thing goes wrong he takes it out on OP.

In the work story he's most definitely preying on her downfall. Sometimes even even men live with you and you're the breadwinner and by default their treachery hurts them too, they will try to destroy you. I think the top commenter meant to do the division of labor and expose him as a clown. I just think it was less direct than the one you liked. I like that most of the stories you pick are not ones that I've heard 50 times. Reddit stories just aren't that interesting anymore to keep hearing the same thing

NTA you WERE setting boundaries but not taking the call By answering the phone and saying what he said he made you sound VERY unprofessional which is not the the way to set boundries NTA The dog's behavior indicated thaey're the opisite of trained and if in fact your she is sick she needs more then a service dog and that dog deserves better NTA your mother was negative crittical controlling and entitledBecomming a parent to make your Mom happy is the wrong reason to become a parent and her demanding that of you is hard evedence she has not in fact changed Get out as soon as you can and don't look back She can't close the door because of the cat? Like does the cat watch and meow at inappproatte times Can't there be a litterbox fooddish and bed in the living room soft a hole while your Mom was wrong to expect to be fed and entertained you should have made it clear to Dad it was a solo invite You don't do anything without him beging Who the H E doubble hockey sticks does he thinks takes care of the kids all day Every night when he gets home say It's Daddy's turn and go upstairs to chill NTA She didn't win She's an adult she can get]t over it
