No I think it's the same ear, they only applied oil to soften the wax.

Just out of curiosity: would holding an ice pack over the ear (or similar cooling technique) before the procedure assist in solidifying the mass? I ask because I have used the good ole heating pad + oil + tilting the head method a few times in my life (once on me, once on a large buildup my friend had), and it worked wonderfully. Basically: would doing the opposite have a similar effect?

This is literally his job, Dude. Look up an ENT that does nasal passages. You will find what you're looking for. This guy seems to jus be an audiologist. They only work w hearing, ear wax removals, hearing aids and such.
